About this Cook
My honey proposed on Christmas Eve, 2009. I love cooking, especially for him and would often go to for dinner ideas. I'm glad to finally become a member, as I'll be using this website for many meals to come.
My favorite things to cook
I love seafood! One reason I started routinely cooking was to prepare healthy meals for myself. I found that I really enjoy being in the kitchen. Now that I'm marrying a man with a "heavier" appetite, I'm looking forward to working on more "man-friendly" recipes, such as meat loaf and fried pork chops.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Both my mother and grandmother enjoy cooking southern food and my mom also has some great Italian recipes, including the most delicious garlic bread I've ever eaten.
My cooking triumphs
I haven't got many triumphs so far, but those that I have consist of cooking up some delicious meals for family and friends.
My cooking tragedies
While frying tortillas for tacos... I started a grease fire. Ugh. It ruined my fiance's stove... I'm still embarrassed.

Meatball Nirvana
Very moist! I did add 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper and one egg (I've never made meatballs without an egg). A very simple and delicious recipe!

No-Peek Beef Stew
I omitted the onion soup and used beef broth instead (though the soup would have been just as delicious). I also added some chopped vegetables. Simmered on low for 10 hours and it was SPOON tender. Though very tasty, it wasn't a real eye-pleaser so we topped it with shredded cheese and sliced scallions. DELISH!

President Ford's Braised Eye Round Steak
A delicious, easy, go-to meal as is. When simmered long enough (which for me, was nearly 2 hours) these steaks become fork tender. I use a GIGANTIC skillet and double the liquids for extra extra gravy because it is very tastey!
