About this Cook
I love creating in the kitchen and spending time with my family. Being vegan and also 80% raw for health reasons, I really love the challenge of keeping my family happy with healthy food (when they would prefer meat), and at the same time feeding myself. I also love to run and so am constantly on the lookout for compact foods with a huge energy output. We are pretty active as a family, and try to be attentive to the energy provided from the foods we eat.
My favorite things to cook
I love making raw breads as well as conventional breads, vegan and vegetarian food, granola, treats, and whole, living foods. I love dehydrating soups, pastas and vegetarian or not, for light packing when we're camping and hiking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mum was an 80's lady so I grew up with a lot of processed and refined convenience food. No cooking traditions healthy or otherwise lol, so of course I am busy BREAKING THAT CYCLE by teaching our 16 year old son the ways of the force.
My cooking triumphs
I go to my happy place when my family feels happy and content with vegan or even vegetarian meals ~ THESE are life's little victories!:)

Pickled Beets
This recipe was pretty close to my Nana's recipe, very old fashioned tasting and easy to follow. Thank you!!!!!

Cake Balls
These were great, perfect for a sweet treat, family loved it. I think the trick is to keep them small, and cool the cake crumbs a bit before adding icing. We also made this recipe replacing our own home make chocolate cake recipe and home make chocolate icing, dipped in melted chocolate chips. This is a very logical, forgiving recipe. You cannot go wrong if you improvise, just make sure to FREEZE THE BALLS ON A COOKIE SHEET before dipping. FOR GIFTS, Package in a round cookie tin, individually placed in decorative muffin papers. LOVE IT!!!!
