Technology specialist, avid knitter and spinner. Married 30+ years with 2 grown daughters. I cooked a lot when my kids were little but my husband has taken over most of our cooking responsibilities when our children got older. Now with just two of us, we share the enjoyment of trying new dishes.
My favorite things to cook
Slow cooking, grilling, casseroles and baking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Traditional Thankgiving, seafood on Christmas eve and ham on Christmas day. We enjoy lasagna on New Year's Day. New Year's Eve is a bounty of specialty appetizers. Of course we make lots of chili during football season.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking for 15 college volleyball players and 3 coaches during pre-season. Keeping 3 meals a day on their training table, combining healthy choices with family favorites.
My cooking tragedies
Dried out roasts, burnt garlic bread and sunken cakes. We've all had our trials :)

Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce
Try adding 1/4 cup of water and 1/4 cup of bourbon. We call it drunken apples and it's a favorite. You might want to make 2 batches -- one with 100 proof and one without if you have children :)

Roasted Brussels Sprouts
I love this recipe. We add crispy bacon to the mixture and then add pine nuts during the last 10 minutes of roasting. A Thanksgiving staple in our house.

Slow-Cooked White Chili
I made this for a tailgate recently. Thinking it 'looked weird', I wasn't sure how well this would go over (not being a traditional chili). I doubled the recipe and people came back for seconds. There wasn't a single leftover! I made it with shredded chicken tenders rather than chopped chicken. I had numerous people ask for the recipe (including a family from Texas where beef and red chili rules). Definitely a new family favorite!
