Homemade Dog Food

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2014
My dogs love this food! I sometimes add more veggies, whatever I have on hand. Sometimes I switch the meat and use chicken thighs which I cook and then remove the bones. I then add the thigh meat back into the broth, add the brown rice cooking again until the rice is done then stir in finely chopped veggies. My dogs are also supplemented with Greek yogurt daily, and raw beef marrow bones a few times a week for additional benefits. This recipe should not be the only food that a dog eats. They need a variety of things like we do.

Asian Chicken and Rice Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2013
I did not care for this recipe. I was in too much of a hurry to add any real Asian seasoning to it, so I should have known it would be disappointing. This tasted nothing even related to anything Asian, and we do eat a lot of Asian-inspired meals (Chinese, Japanese, Korean & Thai). I did follow the tip and added the broccoli florets. Very disappointed in Campbell's.

Rachel's Cranberry Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
Wow, fantastick recipe! This gives a nice sweet-savory-citrus flavor to chicken salad. I did a rough chop on all the ingredients to have more of a "chunky" homestyle texture, which I think that way you get the juicy flavor of the apple with each bite. One little change I made was to add just a little chopped celery (have to have my celery in chicken salad!), but I followed the recipe otherwise. This will be my go-to recipe for chicken salad from now on. Thanks for sharing! Absolutely wonderful!

Spanish Flan

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2012
Wow, I just love this recipe! It tastes completely authentic. We vacation regularly on an island in the Yucatan, and I always order this for desert. It's so simple, but so good, and it's sooo easy to make with pantry goods that I always have on hand. You basically mix it up and pop it in the oven and it's done! I guess I especially love it because it reminds me of vacations in Mexico!

Mama's Tomato Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2012
I was actually looking for another recipe, when I found a recipe for this! I remember my grandmother making this when we would visit. Like her, I always save my bacon drippings to flavor other dishes, but mostly for cornbead. Since I had some drippings in the fridge, I decided to make this. So good, just like I remember. Like the other reviewers, I added some stewed tomatoes. Served over biscuits - the only way to eat tomato gravy. Thanks for posting this true Southern recipe!

Baking Powder Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2012
These are sooo beautiful! As a true southern cook, I would never dream of using egg and no buttermilk in biscuits. I have to admit, after making these a few times (omiting most of the sugar), this is probably the best, easiest, most fool proof recipe for biscuits ever! I made these the first time mostly out of curiosity and my family loved them (even better than my trusty buttermilk recipe I always make). I will continue using this one. It's definitely a keeper!

Baked Oatmeal I

Reviewed: May 4, 2012
Wow, this is so good! I made this for the first time for a weekend breakfast for my family. I wasn't sure how well it would go over since it is oatmeal - not exactly my son's favorite. Also, he had a couple of friends sleep over (11 yr olds). I knew I could whip up some pancakes if it wasn't good. The kids loved it! It is similar in taste to oatmeal cookies right out of the oven. It's so easy since it is mixed up the night before. We have since had it again on a busy school morning. I get up to walk the dogs before my kids, so I put it in the oven before I leave. By the time I return and wake up the kids, it is just about ready. Just take it out of the oven, put some bread in the toaster and breakfast is ready! It's a really good start to the day!

Traditional Gyro Meat

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2011
Wow, this was sooo good! I'm really glad I found this recipe. I never imagined I could make a gyro as good as a Greek restaurant and this really turned out great. I did add more salt to the meat, though because that is what our taste is accustomed, but the spices were spot on. To complete the meal I made a good tzaziki dressing and homemade pitas (easy with my bread maker) and served with lettuce and tomato. What a great meal! I've made this twice so far and it will be a regular in our kitchen.

Famous Chicken Francaise

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2011
I made this recipe last week for my family, and we all loved it. Even my picky 4 yr old said she liked it and wanted me to make it again. I have had this in restaurants before, and I think this version is just as good or even better. I just added one more ingredient, and that was a splash of white wine to the sauce. This is a keeper that I will definitely make again!

Zucchini Bread II

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
I give this 5 stars! This is very simple, and so good. I especially like the use of brown sugar which sweetens just the right amount. I made the recipe into muffins and just shortened the baking time a little bit. Even my picky kids loved it. I will definitely make this one again.

Country House Bed and Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
I have made this recipe for years, so I am not surprised to see it posted here. It is our Christmas morning breakfast. I particularly love it because I prepare it the night before. So simple, and you can add whatever other ingredients you love. I have even made it with crabmeat instead of the bacon or sausage. I always add onion powder and garlic powder to the egg mixture for more flavor. It is really good!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2010
A truly from scratch chicken pot pie! I am always looking for recipes that don't call for a convenience item, in this case "cream of something" soup. I try to always make simple recipes with basic good ingredients and this one fit the bill. I am so glad I tried it because it was sooo good. I did adjust some of the seasoning to our taste, and my family loved it. Instead of making a deep dish pie, I knew the amount of filling would overflow, so I poured it into a 9X13 pan and put two pie crusts over the top to fit. Brushed that with an egg wash and it was golden and perfect. We will definitely have this again and again. Comfort food at it's very best!

Buffalo Chicken Burgers with Blue Cheese Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
These are really good. I have made these burgers a few times now, and everytime we have them my kids ask when can they have them again. They are easier to put on the grill if you form the patties and then freeze them enough to firm them up. These are definitely a go-to-again recipe!

Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2010
I have made bagels using other recipes and have to say this is the best one. These bagels wouldn't win a prize for looking great, but the taste and texture is perfect. They are far superior to what we can get at any grocery or bagel shop. I bake bread in my bread machine every day to have with breakfast, these light , chewy bagels are a really nice alternative for toast.

Breakfast Pies

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
What a great idea these are! I just made them today for my kids to have tomorrow morning. These baked up perfectly for me, however I was carefull to not overfill each muffin cup. I also used my homemade biscuits I always make and really pushed the dough into the cups and up the sides so the dough was not so puffy. I knew if I didn't, then they would overflow and make a mess. These are like a little omlette baked into a biscuit. How simple, and easy and really good!

French Herb Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
This is one of the best bread recipes ever! I made the dough in my bread machine first, then followed the rest of the recipe. I turned out perfect. It was crusty on the outside, and soft and garlicky on the inside. I served it with spaghetti and meat sauce for dinner which paired perfectly. My kids asked if I would make this bread with dinner all the time. Definitely worth the trouble!

Applesauce Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
We loved these. Baking is my favorite way to spend time in the kitchen, and I always like ways to make baking a little more healthy rather than with tons of sugar and fat. These are really moist and flavorful. I did make a cream cheese glaze/icing for them and also added some chopped pecans to the top of the batter before baking, similar to the way I make my carrot cake. I will make these again and again!

Simple Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wraps

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
Wow! This was really good. Even my picky kids loved it and asked me to make it again. I was debating what to make for dinner when I saw this simple recipe and happened to have the ingredients on hand. It took almost no effort, and very little time to get this to the table. I'm always looking for simple to put together and flavorfull foods, and this fit the bill. The cucumber dressing was really good, and I think it would be great on a salad, too. The flavors all blend together really well. I will definitely make this one again!
