Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2014
Followed the directions exactly (omitted raisins). The final product was delicious! I did have some issues though. My dough was too sticky and I had to keep adding flour in order to knead it as well as when I had to roll it out. Then when I rolled the dough up, a lot of the filling came out. Cutting the dough was difficult and resulted in the rolls falling apart. I scooped up the filling and dabbed it on top of the rolls in the muffin tins. At this point they looked terrible but thankfully they tasted great. Oh and in a convection oven they only took 15 mins.

Blueberry Lemon Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2014
Followed the recipe exactly (except I used 2 lemons but only got 1 tbsp zest). My thoughts: I don't see the point of melting the butter. I wouldn't use the zest next time. And you need to dissolve the sugar in the glaze first.

Stuffed Shells III

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2014
Halved the recipe. Used a 300 gram tub of ricotta because that's the size I had. Left out the mushrooms. Added spinach, oregano, basil, nutmeg, garlic and onion powder to the cheese mixture. They were good but the filling I wanted to be more cheesy and creamy.

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2013
Substituted half the vanilla extract for peppermint. Mine turned out really thin, maybe the dough wasn't cold enough?

Nacho Cheese Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2013
Halved the recipe and since I live in Canada we don't have american cheese slices so I used 2% singles. It was ok but not the movie theatre nacho sauce I was looking for. I'm guessing the american cheese makes or breaks this recipe.

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2013
Loved the sauce but could have cared less for the beef. I marinated the beef in the wine with garlic for 1.5 hours. Fried fresh mushrooms then a sliced white onion before browning the beef. Used cornstarch instead of flour and had to add a beef boullion cube for more flavour. Left out the wine because of the marinade. Served over egg noodles. Would make again without the beef.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2013
Followed some suggestions: Used 1lb, 1/4 milk, 1 egg, 1/2 onion, 1/4 cup crushed saltines, used soy sauce instead of salt, added 1 tbsp of minced garlic, forgot the ginger (will add it next time), added garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, chili powder, and dry mustard. Used 1/4 brown sugar and added 1 tbsp of worcestershire sauce to the ketchup mixture and put it on top of the meatloaf.

Easy Shake and Bake Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2013
Used olive oil to coat the bottom of the dish, added 1/2 tsp each of garlic powder and onion powder. Used 1 tsp of poultry seasoning because I didn't have sage. The chicken was ok, not very flavourful and it just wasn't as good as I had hoped. I'll stick to using store-bought shake and bake seasoning for now.

Used 3 fillets, extra garlic, dash of ground ginger, didn't use the garlic salt, baked in a foil bag for 10 mins then broiled for a few minutes. We all loved it! This recipe is a keeper and I'm going to make it often.

Pesto Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: May 23, 2013
Instead of feta I used 1/4 cup mozzarella and 1/2 tsp parmesan cheese. Used 1 lb ground turkey, 3 tbsp pesto, 1/2 tsp seasoning salt, 1/4 cup italian seasoned breadcrumbs and 1 tsp of minced garlic. Made 4 patties and cooked them on the BBQ. Best turkey burgers I've had! Everyone loved them. Would love to try using english muffins for buns next time.

Cola Pot Roast II

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2013
Used a 3lb inside blade roast, reduced sodium gravy mix and followed the recipe exactly. Removed the grease from the gravy and added cornstarch to thicken (in a pot on the stove). Better than I expected and my son who doesn't like gravy had some and liked it! I want to try this again but with less cola as we found it a little sweet.
