BLT Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2001
Yummy! It was a hit. My husband loves BLT sandwiches and he loved this too. I didn't quite use all the dressing the recipe made and I also added avocados. It's a keeper. Serve with bread and you've got a meal!

Harvest Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2001
This salad is fantastic! I used olive oil instead of walnut and it turned out perfectly. The flavors blend well. In the future, I may try adding some chopped walnuts, but it's just delicious as is!

Served this for guests and everyone thought it was just mediocre. It was dissapointing.

Salmon Puffs

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2001
First off, this recipe is not as difficult as it may first appear. I had dinner on the table in 45 minutes. This dish has great presentation; my husband said it was "fancy." The filling is very rich. A little goes a long way so be sparing. In the future I will probably add some spinach as the author suggested for more color, nutrition, and variety. Overall, a lovely dish for the not-too-picky eater.

Blondies II

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2001
I tried these with the frosting. The frosting is great, however the blondies are dry and dense, not chewy and rich as I was expecting. I will not make these again, but might save the frosting for another time.

Amy's Garlic Egg Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2001
Yummy yummy! This chicken is tender and VERY flavorful! There was leftover breading as other reviewers had mentioned, but I sprinkled it on during the turning process and there wasn't too much wasted. I also used fresh parsley instead of dry. DELICIOUS!

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2001
This is a very good one-course meal. We made some seasoning adjustments, which is to be expected with a spicy dish. We added more Cajun seasoning as well as salt. I also thickened the sauce just a bit. Overall, an excellent and easy recipe.

Bacon Mushroom Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2001
This recipe is not as good as I was expecting. The sauce is really just a mushroom gravy. It has good flavor, but a lot of grease floating around the plate. Not the greatest presentation there. The chicken was not very tender either. I will probably not make this again unless I'm needing a good mushroon gravy. For a baked chicken dish, try Amy's Garlic Egg Chicken instead!

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2001
This is a very impressive recipe. It presents beautifully on the plate and the flavors mingle well together. My husband was more than pleased. It even works if you don't have the pecans on hand. The slight crunchiness of the breading is great with the tenderness of the salmon. Give this one a try.

Italian Style Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2001
We're not huge fans of pork chops, but this is pretty good. We used boneless chops. Be careful not to overbake because these can get chewy very quickly. The coating is yummy. You don't need as much butter or breading as it calls for. Overall, I'd make this again.

Swiss Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2001
This is some good comfort food. My husband doesn't care too much for stuffing but he still ate it. I think it's good and it's very quick and easy- a no brainer!

Cream of Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2001
I thought this recipe sounded odd, but we tried it since it got so many good reviews and because my husband loves pumpkin. We didn't even eat more than a few bites before we threw it out. It smells delicious- like pumpkin pie- but it tastes mostly like onions. We would not recommend this to anyone.

Crayfish or Shrimp Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2001
This is very good dish, especially for such a simple recipe. I used half and half and wisked in 1 tablespoon flour for thickness. In the future, I may try adding some fresh garlic. Also, if your cajun/creole seasoning doesn't have salt added, be sure to add some salt!

Delicious Turkey Glaze

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2001
We made this last Thanksgiving (with regular apple cider) and it is delicious! This Christmas, my husband is demanding that we have it again and not try any other glazes. During cooking, the cider flavor gets into the stuffing as well (if you stuff your turkey) and makes it even more delicious! Enjoy!

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2001
I made this recipe last Thanksgiving with some variations. I used apple cider for half of the liquid and omitted the apples. I also combined some dry cornbread cubes with the regular with added flavor and texture. It was delicious. This year I may omit the sausage to save on fat.

Sugar Glazed Salmon

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2001
I've had much better salmon. The flavors were odd together (my husband and I usually like a sweet glaze) and not at all appealing. The vinegar was strong, and in my opinion, doesn't belong with a subtle tasting fish. I will not make this again. It ruined a perfectly good filet. I recommend "Baked Dijon Salmon" instead.

Caramel Filled Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2001
My husband really likes these cookies. I didn't find the dough difficult to work with; I just put it in the freezer for 30 minutes before shaping. They are very rich, I could only eat one at a time. I used Rolos and was pleased with the result. Next time I may try different nuts, like cashews perhaps.

Yummy Eggnog Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2001
Instead of folding in the whipped cream, I made it a double layer, with the egg nog flavored custard on the bottom and the whipped cream on top. Very good and gives a better presentation.
