About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook all desserts with the exception of cookies. I enjoy making things from scratch and have been on a cake decorating frenzy lately. I'm running out of people to give cakes to!
My cooking triumphs
My most recent triumph was my brother's birthday cake. I made a new york cheesecake that turned out perfectly. I made a chocolate plaque for the top then I traced and painted a tribal dragon on it with silver glaze. I am so happy with how it turned out, and so was he!
My cooking tragedies
Ahh my southern shame. I can make gravy in a pot but every time I try in a castiron skillet, something goes wrong. This last try ended up with me having three large blisters on the inside of my upper arm. Don't ask how lol.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy
I didn't prepare the recipe exactly as written. I didn't have any cooking sherry so I just left it out. I misread the tsp of salt for a Tbsp so I reduced the Worcestershire sauce which fortunately didn't negatively affect the outcome. I mixed the ground beef with turkey and added a splash of liquid smoke just because I like the flavor. Everything else I followed verbatim. I will definitely make this again! It turned out terrific and my family really enjoyed it.

Ali's Greek Tortellini Salad
I followed the recipe except I had dried parsley and left out the eggs. I will make this again, very good!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
I must have done something wrong. It tasted ok but not great and wasn't very pretty. With all of the good reviews and the easiness of making it I will try again.
