About this Cook
I'm from a city in Central Alberta, Canada. It's surrounded by farms and ranches, and I really love the country. I love designer clothes, girly movies and gossiping with my girls, but I'm a country girl at heart! I recently moved to Edmonton, about an hour and a half away from home, to go to school. I'm in my First year at the University of Alberta and am going to be a nurse - I can't wait.
My favorite things to cook
Cookies, muffins, cakes, cinnamon buns, cupcakes. Any baking! I've also had a thing for cheesecakes lately.. yum!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Homemade pizza on Friday nights, and brunch after church on Sundays. Of course Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
My cooking triumphs
I continue to surprise myself. I'm not especially confident in my cooking, but in the last year or so, I have become recognized among family and friends for my cooking skills, which I am extremely proud of.
My cooking tragedies
I've also had my fair share of these. I'm willing to try anything, and have definitely had some bad experiences as a result!

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers
I thought these were pretty good! I didn't have onion, but I ended up putting corn in (makes them prettier, and good addition taste-wise too). I used soda cracker crumbs instead of breadcrumbs, just because that is what I had on hand. I also ended up using about 2 tsp of hot sauce instead of 1, but I like things spicy. I thought the taste was perfect (spicy - but not overly). I made sure to dry my beans as much as possible after rinsing! With these (EASY and not major) changes, I had no trouble shaping them together. But I don't imagine that they made too much of a difference. I made 8 smaller patties, just for personal preference, and I put olive oil on my hands before shaping for ease. I didn't find them to be mushy or dry, like other reviewers mentioned.. just crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I will freeze and reheat the ones that are leftover!

MySweetCreations Peanut Butter Cookie Pie
YUM. This was sooo good! I made this for Father's Day, but forgot to review, so here it is! I followed the recipe exactly, using homemade whipped cream, except that I didn't end up putting chocolate and caramel sauce on top, because it already had so many peanut butter cups (and crushed oreos!) on top. I also used a store bought box of oreo pie crust, which worked fine. Everyone loved this, even me, and I don't even like peanut butter (I know, kill me..) I will make this again! Thanks!

Black Magic Cake
This was REALLY good. It will definitely be my go to chocolate cake from now on. It was very moist, the texture was great, and so chocolatey!! Mine did not sink in the middle. I used regular instant coffee and let it cool a bit before adding and my own made buttermilk (1 cup milk, 1 TBSP white vinegar). I used a 13 x 9 glass pan and baked it for just over 40 minutes. I used a cream cheese frosting - although whipped cream with cherries would be delicious. This is perfection!!
