Holiday Brie en Croute

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
Hard to go wrong with this one. I can actually see people's faces light up when they come in my house and see that I've made it. I've made it a lot. I use the apricot pineapple jelly but I imagine most would be good. I've thought of trying a pepper jelly but I'm scared to ruin a good thing. People truly go nuts over this stuff.

Brandied Candied Sweet Potatoes

eh. Just okay. Not bad by any means but not as special as I thought they would be. Nobody at the Thanksgiving table seemed to even notice the brandy.

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
I've been looking for a scratch recipe for years and was in a pinch last night to make dessert. I saw that I had all the ingredients for these and gave them a shot reminding myself that I've never loved scratch brownies I've made. They were out of this world good. I made the recipe exactly like it called for but because of a few reviews I cut down baking just by a few min but I don't think it would have made a difference. Very rich dark chocolate taste. I topped with mini m&ms for kids but the adults had no complaints. I'll never buy another box of brownies.

Manhattan Meatballs

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2010
These are great. I added red pepper flakes to the bbq sauce mixture and used the pineapple apricot preserves. I make a bunch and freeze the meatballs without the sauce and just make a little of the sauce at a time. They always go first at a party and people rave about them.

Hot and Sweet Dipping Sauce

Not completely sure about this one. It was super easy to make but to me it tastes like sugary vinegar right now. I put it in the fridge and am hoping it tastes better after a day of cooling.

Spicy Chicken and Cilantro Wontons

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
Just made these for a party I'm having this weekend. I doubled the recipe and still only used one large bunch of cilantro. I was frying just a few to make sure they were party worthy. When I tasted them I thought I really couldn' t wait to taste them with the sweet and sour sauce but I didn't have any so I just spread on a little bit of pineapple preserves and it was awesome. Then I came up with the idea to add pineapple preserves to the mixture before frying. It made them awesome and helped with the slightly overpowering ginger flavor. If you like your food a little sweet they are awesome that way. That being said, they are still awesome the original way also.
