Apple Cole Slaw

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2014
This was pretty good. P liked it a lot more than I did. There's a good chance I'll make this again when I have cabbage to use up.

Family Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2014
P really liked this. I think I would have been happier with cream of chicken soup instead of (or even in addition to) celery soup, but it was fine as is. I did substitute a little because of what I had on hand. No mushrooms, 8 oz of water chestnuts instead of 5, and one bonus carrot just for the fun of it.

Very good. We froze some shredded zucchini just for this...need to get it out and make another batch soon.

Sauteed Apples

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2013
Very good. I was making breakfast for dinner and wanted something different. We made this (although I didn't really measure much except the water) to go along with ham and eggs and bread. I put it on top of my ham, and it was very good. I think this would be very good in/on a crepe.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2013
Very good, very moist. I made two batches and added about a cup of walnuts to each batch. One batch made two short loaves and the other made 5 small loaf tins. I think I would just make 4 if I had it to do over again. I baked the small ones about 45 minutes, and that seemed to do it.

Campbell's Kitchen Easy Chicken Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2013
Very good. I made a few modifications, but I don't think they were significant. They made it a slightly more interesting meal for me but still stayed fairly close to the original. I'm kind of tired of peas, so I only put in about 1/3-1/2 cup of peas and added onions and carrots like someone else suggested. Next time I'll either shred the carrots or used canned (or previously cooked) carrots since my little carrot chunks were not cooked in only 25 minutes. Oh, and I used a can of cream of chicken and mushroom soup instead of just cream of chicken because I had that on hand. I think it would be equally good without the mushroom.

Quick Creamy Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2013
Very good. I think the combination of having a little too much water and skim milk made it a tad thinner than I'd prefer, but it was very good anyway, and I may even put this in the rotation.

Easy Peach Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2013
This is very good. I agree with other reviewers and used a lot more peaches. I was using home canned peaches, so I don't know exactly how it compares to regular canned ones. It makes a lot of topping, but since I added more peaches, I was fine with that. Not surprisingly, it took me a lot longer than 10 minutes to get this ready since the butter needed to be blended in correctly to get the crispiness.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2013
Tasty! I used a package of refrigerated crusts, and that's fine with me. I also used a mix of granny smith, empire and honeycrisp apples because that's what I had on hand. This was our exchange student's first American apple pie, and I wanted it to be a good one. This definitely fit the bill. I'll come back to this recipe for future exchange years!

Very good. Tastes like a zucchini bread in convenient cookie form. We substituted walnuts for raisins for personal preference.

Zucchini Cheese Garlic Appetizer

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2013
I was humored that the reviews were so inconsistent. Some said it was bland, others said it had too many competing flavors... So I had to give it a shot. I made it pretty much according to recipe, but I only made a half-batch. The only changes I made were using gluten free biscuit mix and accidentally adding a little too much parmesan (about an extra tablespoon or so). Even though it was only half, I still needed to cook it about 25 minutes, so I suspect a full recipe would have taken longer than stated in my oven. Also, I let it set up for a couple hours before cutting it since I wanted to take it to a potluck anyway. It held its shape well, and I was pleased with both the look and the taste. I wasn't blown away though, and I don't know if I'd make it again, but there's nothing wrong with it.

Good. I think it could use a little more of the lime juice or vinegar. It was good, but a bit bland.

Salsa Chicken

Reviewed: May 21, 2013
Made this for lunch today with a friend. We shook the chicken in seasoning in a bag as many of you suggested. Also we weren't too particular about measuring any of the ingredients, and it turned out very good. Topped it with sour cream and seasoned tortilla strips for some crunch and served with Mexican Rice II from this site. Tasty and easy lunch!

Blueberry Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2013
I added a bit of baking powder, and they rose nicely. Might have otherwise, but I wanted to be sure. Made them as muffins then took 'em to church; they were a huge hit. I made half with the blueberries and half with walnuts (half cup each). I think this is the first week that I had no leftovers! Next time I should make another half batch so I get to try them!
