About this Cook
I've been cooking since I was six years old, and I've loved it ever since. Cooking is a therapeutic release for me, and the creative process involved in taking a bunch of 'nothing' and creating something wonderful makes it worth it.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We are a Southern family, so I have spent my life learning all of the wonderful foods and methods in the 'Soul Food' tradition
My cooking triumphs
Every time I try a new recipe and like it, it's a triumph. Expanding my repertoire is my main goal, and since I'm a cook at heart, I usually get good results!
My cooking tragedies
I once made a pecan pie that was the most BEAUTIFUL thing you've ever seen. However, it was missing one ingredient (and since there are only about 4 ingredients anyway) so it was pretty obvious something wasn't there. I had to trash it, because I don't send anything out of my kitchen thats not top notch.

Company Couscous
Made this for a large group of people on my annual ski trip. It was just delicious, and got rave reviews from the group! For the folks who say it's bland, I'd really recommend you add some *ahem* seasoning to the pot.Salt and pepper to start. The only reason a pot of food will STAY bland is because you let it! Only thing I didnt do is bake it...didn't have time for all that. Based on that ,when the couscous finished cooking, I just stirred the hand-grated parmesan into the pot. It provided an EXCELLENT depth of flavor! Will absolutely make again.

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III
Man oh man! This recipe saved my tail this weekend! I had mini cupcakes to make for a wedding, and 3 hours before I was supposed to deliver them, my original recipe failed...probably bad leaveners. In any case, I was out of most of my ingredients and didn't have time to run to the store. I frantically searched for a quick, EASY chocolate cake recipe that didn't require too many ingredients and came across this one. Tried it....LOVED IT! It was SO easy and SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO very tasty- this will be my standard from now on!
