Spaghetti Carbonara II

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2011
Wonderful flavor!!! I took another reviewers advice and mixed the egg with the parmesan then mixed it with the spaghetti before adding it to the rest of the ingredients. I also added some peas. Delicious! Thanks for the recipe!

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
I'm usually a chocolate cake girl but this was excellent for homemade white cake. The only alteration I made is added an extra teaspoon of vanilla for more of a vanilla flavor. I liked this better than the red velvet cupcakes that I also made. These were light, fluffy, and super tasty! Especially with chocolate frosting. ;) Thanks!

Classic American-Style Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
I made this exactly as written. I was skeptical about the sweet pickles, but man, was the whole thing great! Even my hubby who is particular about potato salad raved. I've tried several potato salad recipes, but this is my new go to recipe. Thanks!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2011
This was very good and the best part is it took less than 5 min to prepare the meat to put in the crock pot. My husband raved about it. (probably because it was something different!) and my 3 yr old kept saying "mmm". I also used another cut of pork that cost about $5 for just over 2 lbs. Thanks for the easy recipe!

Dijon Grilled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
I enjoyed this a lot! It was super simple to make and very tasty, especially since it was basted with the marinade. I only marinated for about 4 hrs but they were thin, boneless chops and this seemed fine. I'd like to try this with chicken too! thanks for the recipe!

Maple Salmon

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2011
Amazing! I made the recipe as is, but my husband grilled the salmon. He also basted some of the marinade on it when cooking it on the grill and got them to a perfect glaze while the rest of the fish flaked. Even my mom who doesn't eat salmon had seconds! Thanks for the recipe.

Crazy Chicken Marinade Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: May 31, 2011
I made this exactly as written but it wasn't one of my favorites. The chicken was very moist and the lime favor was nice, but apart from that a little bland. I think some salt may have helped it but I think I'll try other recipes before trying this again.

Amy's Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: May 16, 2011
I didn't particulary care for this, mainly because of the texture. I might try once more and omit the egg to see what happens.

Garlic and Ranch Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: May 16, 2011
The worcestershire sauce gave this a nice flavor but they fell apart when grilling, even though I used about 1/2 c of bread crumbs and set them in the fridge for several hours. I'm going to continue looking for a recipe or design my own.

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: May 10, 2011
Wow! Wonderful! My husband just went back for thirds! I used lean ground turkey, doubled the cumin, only 1/4 tsp of cayenne and only 1 cup of water. It packed a good punch and was just the right consistency. I added a can of drained corn and so glad I did. I served with shredded cheese and low fat sour cream. Sooo yummy! Thank you for the recipe, I'll be making this frequently.

Lentils and Rice with Fried Onions (Mujadarrah)

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2011
This is OH MY GOODNESS wonderful! I made a couple of changes--used 2 onions (do it, you won't be sorry) and I added 1 TBSP cumin and 1 1/2 tsp garam masala to the lentils when they were cooking--which was a recommendation of another reviewer. also used brown instead of white rice. I served this with wheat pita bread triangles and cucumber salad (recipe from this site). My husband RAVED all night about the whole dinner!

Slow Cooker Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2011
I made this for Easter too. It was very good! I used 2 cups of cheese and replaced the water with nonfat milk. I also omitted the ham since we had ham as part of the meal. The best part of this is using the slow cooker so I didn't have to turn the oven on--a huge plus when living in Phoenix!

Mom's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
I think they were good but not great. Having said that, I couldn't stop eating them tonight! I'll try once more with cheesecake pudding since so many people raved over that. I made with semi sweet choc chunks and that part was awesome.

London Broil I

Deeeeeelicious! My 2 yr old is gobbling it up! The only slight change I made is I added about 1/2 tbsp of balsamic vinegar based on one reviewer's suggestion.

Mongolian Beef and Spring Onions

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2011
I made this exactly as written and I really really like it. The sauce made too much for the amount of sauce so next time I will double the meat. Also, prep and cook time took waaaaay longer than stated. Took me about an hour, I think, and it's a pain to fry. With double the meat, it would be worth it so I could have leftovers.

White Chili with Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2011
Delicious! But...this is more like soup. My husband kept saying it's great SOUP. I used cilantro instead of parsley, used 4 cloves of garlic, 4 chicken breasts and a small can of chopped green chilis. I served it with shredded cheese, tortilla chips and sour cream. Wonderful! I also served with Honey Corn Bread from this site.

Lemon Poppy Seed Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
Based on suggestions in other reviews I made a few changes: I only used 1/4 c oil, and added 2 tbsp lemon juice to the batter. I also used lemon pudding and added a lemon and orange juice glaze. It was very light and I didn't think the lemon was overpowering at all. I baked for 55 min and that was a little too long. My 2 yr old loved it too!

Very Good and very easy! I made with whole wheat penne pasta and turkey bacon and omitted the oil. Very tasty and relatively healthy.

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
Tasty, but the sauce was too thin and I did mix the pasta in with the sauce. However, I used fat free half & half so maybe that was the problem? Next time I will use less half & half and add some low fat cream cheese or sour cream to see how that tastes. I also used sweet chicken sausage (it's what I had) but will try spicy sausage next time.
