About this Cook
Newlywed, never cooked in my life! Specialties=burnt, raw and frozen in the middle, often all three at once! Know when a dish is ready when the smoke alarm goes off or the fire department arrives!
My favorite things to cook
Stir fry, recipes easy using every day ingredients, anything with sauteed mushrooms
My favorite family cooking traditions
Room service, dining on cruise lines, ordering out pre made delivery food, having an event catered, making someone else cook (not related to our genetics!).
My cooking triumphs
BEEF WELLINGTON for SIX people on my husbands birthday!!! It look amazing, cooked perfectly and tasted out of this world!!! I combined the suggestions of SEVERAL recipes. A MIRACLE thanks all the people who support and contribute to this website!!!.THANK YOU ALL!!! I've made this twice and wish I'd taken a pix to prove to my family I'm not a total "princess" and to add to this website as a triumph against all odds!!!
My cooking tragedies
"Nuclear Popcorn" thanks to my try at making "real" popcorn in a cast iron pot with the heavy lid on that I left cooking while I finished watching a movie. The cast iron lid kept "exploding" off the pot until I saw the flash of light (fire) in a reflection in my glass windows and felt the reverberation of the explosion. Jiffy Pop was my new best friend, now I just burn it in the microwave. Not my cooking forte!!!

Broiled Scallops
This was my first time on this website and my FIRST meal EVER cooking for my new husband! Used the large scallops from costco and was afraid they'd be over cooked but not only were they tender, they tasted amazing and looked beautiful. He was so impressed and so was i! Thanks for this website!!

Hooley's Devil Stuffed Shrimp
I used half Thai chili sauce and half regular, added much more horse radish and tobasco to taste a bit more nippy. Bought giant prawns and dungeness crab meat from Costco, quite a savings! Made this for a cocktail party and was a huge hit. People took the extras home and said they made a meal of just 3 of them. Excellent (but hard to slice prawns exactly right)

This is easy to make and very tasty. I used "Newman's Lemonade" which has a very low sugar content and diet ginger ale. Delicious and refreshing!
