I am married, 6 kids, 4 grandchildren, a dog and a parrot. I have worked in food services for over 20 years, and wrote 2 cookbooks for boaters and everyone. Cooking is my passion. I have a website for free recipes, and an online store, www.sandiesgalley.com and www.sandiesgalleyandmore.com
My favorite things to cook
Soup, soup, soup is my favorite thing to make. I love coming up with new recipes, such as Rueben Soup, made with left over corned beef. Tastes just like you are eating a sandwich. Salads are great also, because you can really experiment. Gourmet foods, made easy is yet another thing I love to cook. Sauces to turn chicken, pork, steak or whatever into a meal that would be served in an upscale restaurant.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving, and Christmas when all the family comes come are the best traditions. Also getting the family together in the summer up at the boat, when we do a lot of cooking and eating.
My cooking triumphs
Won a throwdown up in Elk Rapids while living on our boat last summer. The chef at a famous resturant in Michigan called Pearls, took me on just like Bobby Flay does. The dish had to be pork and we had to use bourbon. The judges didnt know who made what. In the end, my meal won, therefore my winning dish was put on their menu. As far as food goes, it's hard to beat my Chicken and Shrimp Jambalaya. Recipe is on my website.
My cooking tragedies
Oh, have had many that cant be fixed, so they get tossed out. The one that comes to mind but it was edible, was chocolate steak, yuk!
