I am a teacher and a mom to a 2 year old boy. I live in a small town in Iowa. I love to use vegetables and herbs grown and preserved from my garden in my cooking.
My favorite things to cook
I love to grill meat and vegetables and cook for large family gatherings. One of my favorite things is to host family gatherings at my house, cook a bunch of food, listen to my brothers play music, and drink a lot of wine!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am allergic to wheat and eggs so a lot of the things I prepare are gluten free. I eat a lot of meat, vegatables, fruit and dairy products. I used to use seasoning packets for things like chili, meatloaf, and tacos but I am learning to use real seasonings since most of those packets contain wheat and a bunch of preservatives and artificial seasonings like MSG.
My cooking triumphs
Chili, lasagna, roasts, enchiladas, spinach-potato casserole to name a few.

Jalapeno Poppers of Champions
I baked these at 400 degrees for 30 minutes, turning half way through. They were awesome! They are also great grilled. I thawed out some jalepenos that were frozen from my garden last July to use, and they tasted as good as fresh. Jalepenos are full of vitamin C so these poppers are sort of healthy!

Easy Slow Cooker Chicken Wings
I used chicken legs instead of wings and baked in the oven. I didn't care for the flavor of the sauce.
