Raised by a southern mother who had a minor in nutrition (her major was chemistry!) I am always looking for ways to get my family to educate their tastebuds and appreciate different flavors and foods. The fresher the better. Cook what is on sale and available at your local veg stand. Always start from scratch if time and energy permit!

Fish, but only the freshest fish. I would never consider buying fish from a grovery store. It's so easy, but you have to make that extra stop at the fish market!
Oh Yeah, pies, all kinds of pies. We have a summer home in Maine and rasberrys/blueberrys/blackberries are abundant in July and August.Rhubarb is thrown out like a weed! Can you imagine!! Everyone else paints on the ocean, I make pies. I have very well fed neighbors, especially if the berries are ripe!
