Peppermint Brittle

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2002
I made this for teacher gifts. I cut a 15"x15" square of colored cellophane and put the candy in the middle, bunched it all together, and tied curling ribbon around it. It was a BIG hit! Thanks for this recipe!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2001
I expected this to be something you would spoon out of a casserole dish, but it was more like cutting a piece of cake. Very tasty!

Lemon Chicken II

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2001
The was really good. The batter was amazing. I omitted the salt and next time I will add a little more sugar. Makes a very pretty dish! Also, I used frozen, boneless, skinless, chicken tenderloins and they were the perfect size...didn't have to cut them up until they were on the dinner plate.

Drip Beef Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2001
Very tasty and tender! I had never thought to boil a roast before, but it really made it delicious! I froze some of the beef stock to make French onion soup later.

I made these at Thanksgiving for those who aren't big pie eaters and they were gone in a flash!

Jo Jo's Favorite Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2001
Very good basic recipe. I added pecans to half of the batter and liked it better that way.

Creme Brulee II

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2001
This is wonderful! I did have to almost double the baking time, but I used one larger container instead of the 4 smaller ones. A 12 year old neighbor made this for New Year's Eve last year and it didn't set up properly (she used one medium casserole dish instead of ramikins and probably didn't adjust the baking time) so she put it in the freezer. It was the absolute BEST vanilla 'ice cream' I've ever had! I made this along with 'Apple Spice Dump Cake' also found on this site and it was pure heaven!

REALLY yummy! Try it with creme brulee (also found on this site - I froze mine). Thanks for this recipe!

Spicy Orange Beef

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2001
This was pretty good....I'll make it again, but next time I'll use a little less soy sauce (it was a little too salty for my taste).

Supreme Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2001
My family did not care for these at all. The 'sauce' dried on the top of the pork chops, they were swimming in grease on the bottom, and they tasted like rubbery pork chops with ketchup.

Broccoli Beef I

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2001
Here's a hint: instead of slicing the beef, cut it in strips with kitchen shears. Much faster and easier on the hands! I thought this one was a little bland, and the consistency too thick. Next time I will use more garlic, less ginger, less flour, and maybe some curry to help spice it up a little.

Chicken and Dumplings III

My hubby loved this one! I used cream of chicken soup and it turned out great! Would also be good if a bag of frozen mixed veggies were added.

Too Easy Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2001
Yummy! I made this with canned peaches and it was a little too sweet. I'll make it again, but if I use canned peaches, I will cut down on the sugar and I'll add a little cinnamon.

Country Soup in a Jar

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2001
This soup looks very nice in the jar and I was skeptical as to how it would taste. It was really VERY good! The pasta was a little mushy though. I plan to make it for gifts this Christmas, but I may leave out the pasta all together. It made 8 good-sized servings.

Cappuccino in a Jar

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2001
I liked this alot, but I used French Vanilla flavored creamer, and next time I will probably double the amount of creamer. I used Nestle' Quik (the kind you had milk to) and I was wondering if I had used the kind that you just add water to, if I would have gotten a richer flavor.

Chicken Tortilla Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2001
This was really very good. I will make it again, but I will only use half the amount of tomatoes (if any) and my kids thought it was too spicy, so I'll half the cayenne pepper as well.

Artichoke Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2001
This was truly wonderful! I did make a few changes, however. I used a 16 oz. bag of frozen spinach, only one container of sour cream, and 2 Tablespoons of minced garlic in place of the garlic salt. It tasted just like the dip a caterer made for a party I went to. Make sure you buy 'chopped' spinach - mine was frozen leaves and I had to put it in a blender for a few seconds to chop it up.

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

A friend makes this every year and gives it out wrapped first in waxed paper and then in colored cellophane. I look forward to it every year! It is really good on cold mornings with a cup of cappuccino.
