I am a Chicago born Puerto Rican who started to cook a the age of 16. I have perfected recipes to my own liking. I am married to a Mexican woman, so I do dabble with Mexican food also, but that is not hard on the stomach.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make Puerto Rican rice, "arroz con gandules." Although I love to cook alot of other Rican foods. In my house I am called "the dessert king" simply because I always have dinner with a dessert.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family has many traditions that I dont follow anymore, because due to the fact that I became a born again Christian. But when it comes down to food, we keep all the rican tradition of family gatherings. Pot luck is not new, but has been around ages. Usually, all the ladies bring something and of course me.
My cooking triumphs
I have become a great cook without going to school. I believe being a chef does not make you a great cook. I dont cook foods I dont eat, and I have a 99.9% good feedback. I have cooked over hundreds of recipes in my life time. I also came up with faster ways to cook and made my own recipes through trial and error.
My cooking tragedies
I Didn't have relatives over for thanksgiving for a long time, due to my large family always going to someone elses house. So I was excited and nervous. I under cook the turkey by mistake because that day I alone was cooking everything. This was one of my embarrassing moments of my cooking life. Luckily, my brother in- law was a good sport and still ate the partially under cooked turkey.
