Asian Beef with Snow Peas

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2013
This is a wonderful recipe! The only thing I adapted was I used 8 oz. of beef tenderloin tips (from Omaha Steaks), Gourmet Garden's Ginger Paste, which is made from fresh ginger,(found in the produce section, as my store did not have fresh ginger), 3 oz. of snow peas, and regular sherry for the rice wine. This was perfect for the two of us. With more meat, I can see why many suggested doubling the sauce ingredients, which is so tasty! I served this with rice. This was ready in 15 minutes (start the rice earlier) start to finish. This recipe was in the preview issue of the new magazine and is as colorful as pictured. Looking forward to the first issue in my mailbox.

Never Fail Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
At 465 calories and almost 25 grams of fat per biscuit, they would have to be a once in a while treat for my family. Certainly not helpful for healthy eating.

Homemade Cream-Style Soup Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2011
You can find the dried vegetable flakes in most health food stores. The store I use had "dried vegetable soup mix" in bulk which can be bought in whatever quantity you desire. This worked fine for me. I was unable to locate this product in the grocery stores in my area.

Dirty Snow Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
A recipe similar to this was originally on the Pillsbury Cake Mix box. It said to add 1 1/4 cups water, 1/3 cup oil, 3 egg whites, and 1 cup coarsely crushed Oreo cookies to a white cake mix. Stir in the cookies gently after all is blended. The frosting recipe was different, however. It was 3 cups of powdered sugar, 3/4 cup shortening, 1 teas. vanilla, and 2 egg whites (pasteurized, today, available in the egg section of the store). Combine 1/2 cup of the powdered sugar, shortening, vanilla and 2 egg whites; blend well. Beat in remaining powdered sugar until frosting is smooth and creamy.Garnish with additional Oreo cookie halves. This frosting makes it easier to make ahead, take to a potluck, or to someone's house It has always been a winner! (As soon as I saw this recipe I remembered that I had this version in my recipe box from many years ago.)
