My Mother's Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2010
Makes about 10-12 small very fluffy pancakes. I added about a fourth cup more milk than the recipe called for to thin the batter out a bit. One child loved them, one child thought they were too thick. These were easy to make and I will use this recipe again.

Magic Cookie Bars II

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2011
Good but VERY rich. Make sure you use brand name sweetened condensed milk. Store name just didn't do the trick.

Bob's Awesome Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
Bob's lasagna is truly awesome. I love that the recipe is basic, but full of flavor, which is just what the doctor ordered when cooking for picky kids! My 13 yo gobbled this up like he was starving, so this will be on the menu again! I followed the recipe with no changes.

Rhinelander Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
I loved this recipe. I used ham instead of bacon because I had it on hand. I also used more salt than the recipe called for and added some black pepper to taste. The thyme gives this soup a fabulous taste, and I will definitely make this again.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
Liked the icing, didn't like the almond flavor. I would make this again, but with vanilla extract. Like some others, I used more milk than was called for. Also, I needed three batches of this icing to ice one batch of cookies.

Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
Good, but not enough sauce for the pasta. I would double the recipe for a whole pkg of pasta. I added fresh italian seasoning, black pepper to taste, and Tony Chachere's to kick it up a little. I will definitely make this again, but will double the sauce.

BBQ Country Style Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2010
Thank goodness I found this recipe. My husband loves country style ribs, but I have always thought they would make better dog food than people food. Following this recipe (foil covered for the first two hours) was so tender, that I have revised my opinion of this cut of meat. I did half with BBQ sauce and half with steak sauce. Both were great .

Glazed Corned Beef

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2010
Loved this recipe for corned beef. It was very easy and the whole family like it. I used dehydrated onions instead of fresh, and omitted the mustard and the horseradish in the sauce, simply because I didn't have them on hand. I ended up with a sweet tangy glaze that worked just fine.

Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2011
Absolutely awesome. First time I made this it took forever becasue I stirred constantly and briskly. I just made a second batch and it took about a third of the time because I stirred slowly. This is what I am making for Christmas gifts this year.

These had a great flavor, but were more cake-like than I would like.

Double Chocolate Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
These bars rock! I used 2/3 can of the milk with the chocolate, and used 1/2 cup white choc and 1/2 semi-sweet on top of the melted chococlate. Drizzled the remaining milk on top and baked as directed in an 11X7 pan. Wonderful. Will definitely make again, but thinking about adding caramel topping next time.

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
Followed the recipe exactly. Bread was fluffy and moist as promised. We liked it but we didn't love it because it didn't taste "corny" enough for us.

Gingerbread Boys

These cookies turned out perfect. The dough was a little crumbly, but it rolled out fine. The cookies are light and full of flavor, but not too spicy. Highly recommend this recipe exactly as it is written.

N'Awlins Stuffed Bell Peppers

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
These were great! I made a few changes. I had half the stuffing mix, so I supplemeneted with mashed potatoes. I used Campbells Creamy Tomato soup to add liquid (having read other reviews). Next time I'd like to add some corn. I will definitely make these again.

Nutty Apple Crisp

Reviewed: May 25, 2010
I was in a rush so I didn't read any of the reviews. Made the recipe as shown and thought it definitely needed some cinnamon. If I make this again, I will halve the nutmeg and add cinnamon. It was way too "nutmeggy".
