Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2010
Very good recipe! I followed the recipe almost exactly and it turned out very well. The potatoes are very tasty but they are a little overpowering to the meat mixture. I will make this again.

I didn't have whole wheat flour, but it tasted great with regular flour :)

Cucumber Sunomono

I love this recipe - so impressive and so simple! Just remember if you are using ground ginger (not the fresh kind) to use far less of it, or it will end up with quite a bite.

Mexican Casserole

very tasty! I followed the suggestions of others: frying the chicken with garlic and onion, adding a bit more salsa.. turned out to be fabulous, a very flavorful, hearty meal. will cook it again.

Pumpkin French Toast

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
very tasty, but the pumpkin is much more subtle than I would have anticipated.. but the mixture came out very well. I added whipped cream and cinnamon to the top. Excellent fall breakfast to keep things interesting :)

very good as is. Turned out much better than I'd expected.. great party or potluck item. Easy to make.. I'd consider adding a little more flavor in there.. maybe some more spices?

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
My boyfriend raved about this recipe but I wasn't sold.. I'm giving it 5 stars in his honor. I added a small amount of cornstarch and water mixture to thicken it a little, which was a good choice. Next time I'll cut down on the sherry, add a little more marsala wine, and perhaps some onions, a little more garlic, some extra herbs, make the breading on the chicken a little thicker, and add a little cream for some richness

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
One word: Amazing. I too doubled the topping, that's a good choice if you like a better topping to apple ratio. I cut the water in half, but it didn't need any at all. I didn't believe the other reviewers.. but as usual.. they're right! I brought this to a church event and someone found me to shake my hand for making the amazing apple crisp.

Quinoa Pilaf

These are the types of dishes I like to make and keep on hand for side dishes. I got a little carried away with the lemon... but that's not the recipe's fault.

I used pancake mix for most of the ingredients, then added in the extra stuff. Turned out very well! Will make them again. I took the suggestion and doubled the spices - good idea.

Potato Rosemary Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
I followed what grannyloohoo did: -Used real milk instead of dry, and cut down on the water -Proofed the yeast in the warm water and sugar -used butter on top after removing from the oven -I only let them rise once, and used dried rosemary, whole, added to the warm water/yeast. Turned out fabulous! They had great flavor and texture and were awfully cute! I will make these again for sure. Next time, I'll use them as a starter to the meal and add a dish of olive oil for dipping.
