I have been making this recipe for quite some time and was asked if I could make a healthier version. As other reviews suggested, I substituted the butter for the olive oil. I also decreased the sugar by 3 TBSP. I used 1 cup of white flour, 1/2 cup of wholewheat and 1/4 cup of ground flax seed (you can easily ground this in your coffee grinder). Then for added ingredients I use chopped pistachios, dried cranberries, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, flax seeds and a small amount of chopped white chocolate (total amount of all the ingredients 2 cups however you want to divide it up). I also added 1 TBSP orange zest to the sugar and butter mixture. I brushed egg yolk and water mixture on the dough and sprinkled extra seeds before baking. These were so yummy and filling.
