Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
This was simple but good :) My daughter made this for us and we enjoyed it. We didn't use as much sugar as called for because we like a tart lemonade. Next time I will either up the lemon juice, or use even less sugar. We used 1 1/4 cups this time.

Classic Waffles

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2007
Ok, after years of trying to find a good waffle recipe, I have found it!! Made some for a lunch treat for the kids and they all want to give it 5 stars-so with 5 kids, that is like 25 stars-lol! They are crspy on the outside and tender on the inside. I didn't have vanilla, so added cinnamon and they were still tasty! My waffle maker makes 4 large size waffles at once (in one big square) and I was able to refill the waffle maker 3 times, resulting in 12 nice sized waffles for us. I will double or triple this recipe and make a huge batch to put up in the freezer! Thanks!!

Easy Apple Cinnamon Muffins

Reviewed: May 28, 2007
These were really easy to whip up this morning! I replaced all the oil with applesauce, filled the muffins cups only half way and didn't use the topping (tho next time I will atleast sprinkle with cinnamon sugar before baking). I only used one small granny smith apple-if I had used two, it would have been more apples than batter. I was scared at first because the batter was really thick, but these turned out nice and fluffy and rose really well! Will make many times over, Im sure :)

Burger or Hot Dog Buns

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2007
These were really very good! I have made these twice-once in my kitchen aid and the second time in my bread machine (with the machine, I used less flour than called for). On my second try (which is in the machine right now) I added 1 cup wheat in place of a cup of the white flour. They make really beautiful and big rolls :) Used them for sloppy joes and they were very filling!

Marble Swirl Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
Oh, I really hate to give this recipe such a bad rating but it was really awful! It is extremely dry and the outside got crunchy-I was very disappointed in how it turned out. I am wondering if perhaps using oil or even applesauce in place of some of the butter might help. Atleast my kids like it and maybe it will be better today. I may try this recipe again with the applesauce or oil later on...

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2006
I reviewed these before and only gave them 4 stars... This time, I am giving them 5 stars for the great banana flavor-perhaps last time they were not big bananas. I did add cinnamon and vanilla and once again, I doubled this to put some up in the freezer. I used half cinnamon for the margerine/butter. Right out of the oven, good, moist, great flavor...I imagine thawed from the freezer the flavors will be even better!

Brownies III

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2006
I give these a 3 because my kids ate them-not sure why they did tho. I read the reviews but missed the part about using less salt-perhaps someone needs to change this in the actual recipe-they were way to salty! It was like chocolate with a bitter-salty after taste :( They had a crispy sugary coating on top and were cake-like-good for those who like it :) I also found them to be a bit too oily as well--maybe lessen the oil by a tad bit.

Cream of Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2006
Im only giving this 3 stars after reading what other reviewers posted. I think if you looked through the reviews and did what others did, this recipe might turn out yummy. Mine was just icky-not creamy or even close to thick as canned tomato soup. I will try again tho-using others' suggestions

Easy Biscuit Mixture

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2006
Oh, goodness! I had my reservations when folks were comparing these to KFC, but WOW!! These are SO delicious! They remind me of McD's biscuits too :) My kids love them! I only made a recipe for 6 servings, but got about 12 or so biscuits. I used margerine because that is what I had on hand and they were wonderful-flaky, moist, and lightly crunchy outside :)

Kentucky Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2006
very tender and yummy!I added about a tsp of salt. Also, I had no baking soda, but these still turned out wonderfully! I did put in a bit more baking powder just to be safe (since I had no soda)--can't wait to try them with the baking soda to see if it makes them even more flaky.

Pumpkin Muffins II

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2006
These were very good--very moist and just all around yummy! I ran out of pumpkin pie spice, so added extra cinammon, but will have to make sure to have the right amount of spice enxt time (my fault-not the recipe's). My kids love them and so do I! Can't wait for dh to try one ;) I think walnuts or pecans and raisins would be a terrific addition to these!

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2005
Well, sadly I was not too impressed with these cookies. I even added some vanilla to the dough, but these were bland. Used raspberry jelly for some tartness.

Creamed Peas and Onions

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2005
I really liked this recipe. I used frozen peas with no onions but added some onion powder. I also like mine just a tad sweet, so I added about a TBS of sugar. I only made half the recipe since Im the only one who eats these at my house :) That's ok, more for me!! Tasted like Mom's :)

Light Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2005
Well, I thought these lacked some flavor, but got great reviews on them from others. I did use milk instead of water, added a tsp. more salt, and used brown sugar instead of white sugar (I bet honey would be wonderful and add to the flavor!). I used my breadmaker and watched it while it was mixing--had to add more flour-about 1/2 cup more. The dough was still sticky, so I sprayed non-stick spray on my hands when it came time to make the rolls-worked well. The rolls (which Imade just round ones) were fluffy, springy and light :) Next time I might add a 1/2 tsp more salt or even the honey to make these less bland.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2005
As some others have said, this cake was even better the next day! Though, it didn't stop my kids from trying right after it was cooled;)It was very moist, even a few days later, and that was with the foil not covering it all the way (couldn't keep up with all the hands getting into the pan and not putting the foil abck right). I had no frosting on it, and didn't try the frosting recipe included, but the cake itself was very yummy and will be made many times over, I am sure!

Vegan Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
This was a great recipe for my egg-allergic son. All my kids and even my hubby loved these. I make it for birthdays so my son has cake he can eat too. I used half wheat flour and replaced the oil with almost a cup of applesauce. Turns out nice and moist, and rich :)Not like chewy brownies, morelike cake, but still very yummy!!

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2005
These were really very good, but I think next time I will definitely use butter (I used margerine and they seemed to spread a bit). I left out the glaze to make them easy for lil hands to not make messes. I also made a few with hershey kisses in the middles:) These were great for my son with an egg alergy! Thanks!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2004
I really like this recipe-it makes yummy fluffy pancakes (make sure your baking powder is good :). I used half wheat/half white flours and added a bit of cinnamon and vanilla extract. I also used half applesauce to help cut down on fat and they turned out nicely! One thing, if you like your pancakes sweet, you will need to add a bit more sugar. My kids loved these-even with the extra wheat flour :)
