About this Cook
I love to cook and I love to bake. I have always loved to cook and seem to have a knack for it. There's not much more that I enjoy more than making a big homecooked meal for my family.
My favorite things to cook
my homemade fried chicken, homemade biscuits, soups (one of my specialties), rolls, dressing to go with turkey for the holidays, desserts of all kinds.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We always have my homemade cornbread dressing (I make mine with about 2/3 cornbread and 1/3 white bread) with lots of raw eggs, chicken broth, celery, onions, a dash of garlic and a very small SMALL hint of poultry seasoning. Lots of black pepper and a hint of sugar makes this a "to die for" dressing that is always requested. Then my sweet potato casserole with the butter, brown sugar and pecan topping to go with the turkey and dressing etc
My cooking triumphs
I love to "copy" dishes that we have in restaurants so we can enjoy them at home. Pretty good at of my favorites is my version of the Harvest Chicken soup served at O'Charley's restaurant. Also, the soup at Olive Garden with the potatoes, kale and Italian Sausage. Wonderful!
My cooking tragedies
the one time I made my own pasta. ugh. I ended up losing my temper and crumbling it all up. The pasta maker (those beautiful stainless steel ones that roll the dough out and cut the the way they look) went back to the store.

Pretzel Salad
I made this dessert exactly as directed the first time but I couldn't stomach the Jell-o separating and causing the crust to be soggy with liquid (water) in the pan. That was gross. SO, I made it a second time, and, instead of Jell-o, I just put cherry pie filling on top. Now I always use either cherry pie filling or blueberry pie filling on top.

Very tasty! I would call it "Harvest Chicken Stew" instead of "Harvested....."

Bronco Burger
I thought it was very good and the egg, to me, only made it a little more moist, especially if using leaner gr. beef. Love the spiciness! As I've never been fond of any kind of ground beef being "pink", I prefer my burgers with no undercooked portions, keeping it safe. Delicious HAMBURGERS!
