Hello All, I am a kitchen loving momma with a passion for all things culinary. I am a self-taught cook eager to try new things ... even if that means a few unappetizing meals. I specificially love to bake and make breads and doughs. From pizza dough, I will never order out again, to pie crust to sweet treats, I love the whole process.

My cooking tragedies
I have made a many "barrel cake." Barrel cakes are what my grandmother calls anything that ends up in the trash. One of the best tragedies of my culinary practice was when I was a young girl ... maybe nine. And I made homemade New England clam chowder for my father. Thing was I read the recipe as saying ... one Tablespoon ... when in fact it said one teaspoon. The end result was a salty mess. I will never forget my dad's face. I think he said something to the effect of "Whewwwwww!"

Holly's Hummus
Love this hummus. Like another reviewer suggested I left out the olives and increased the garlic. I also increased both the basil and cilantro adding them as I processed and tasting inbetween. Love this recipe!

Southwestern Chicken and White Bean Soup
This recipe was a good start. However, I recommend adding a can of V8 juice. As is this was pretty thick. I added additional salsa and chicken broth after I realized that it was not going to yeild the extra soup I had hoped for and was still left wanting more of a tomato base. I served it with tortilla chips and fresh avacado and cilantro ... wouldn't dare serve without because it is kinda plain! Green chilies may also be a good addition. This could also be converted into a vegetarian soup omitting chicken and replacing chicken broth with vegetable.

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad
Love this! I have made it in the past from a recipe a co-worker shared years ago. The only changes I make are to use one cream cheese as opposed to two and double the jello. I also use pineapple juice in the jello in replacement for one cup cold water. It adds to the flavor.
