I am a well seasoned cook. I started out when I was about 12 years old, cooking for a family of five. Since my mom worked full time,I was blessed with this duty. She taught me well. Her mother was also a cook in a restaurant. I was very fortunate that I had such experience to bring to the table when I got married. While I was taught about main dishes, I wanted to learn how to can & freeze since I maintain a huge garden. I am enjoying sharing new things with my grown children & grandchildren.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking everything, but I would say cooking venison is my forte.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I would say cole slaw & backed beans would be the top traditions in my core family.
My cooking triumphs
I would say my latest triumps would be the zucchini salsa that I tried from one of the recent contributors, as well as the apple pie receipes.
My cooking tragedies
GRAVY....First time I tried gravy from scratch, it was so thick, the spoon stood straight up in the pan! Well, I tried again & again, however, moms lesson just didn't sink in so I tried canned,"no fail" gravey. Guess what? I messed that up too. I finally conquered gravy from scratch after many failures. I was just so determined to accomplish this. Although I can make gravy, it still doesn't taste like mom's!
