Sweet and Sour Pork III

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2014
I didn't follow the instructions for the pork, instead I cubed it and pan fried it. Not quite the same as takeout, however the result was excellent without the guilt!

Linguine Pasta with Shrimp and Tomatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2014
Instead of adding the Cajun spices, I used lemon pepper. Made a lovely dinner with Caesar salad.

Loved the name but found something was missing taste-wise. We couldn't decide what was needed.

Perfect Lemon Curd

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2012
Very yummy and easy - I used the microwave. I also cut the butter to 1/8 cup from 1/2 cup - to make it healthier.

Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2012
Very soft pizza crust - more like a roll than bread. Tripled the recipe for 2 large baking sheets of pizza. Worked in about 1/4 cup flour per recipe before shaping. Cooked at 400F. The edge portions were fantastic but towards the center it lacked the strength to hold the piece. Will make again but will try adding a tad more flour.

Restaurant-Style Prime Rib Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2012
Excellent. I have never cooked Prime Rib before and prepared this for a crowd. We wanted well-done since most of our guests prefer this. Easy, incredible and our company raved about this.

Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2011
Used 1/2 cup each of buttermilk, sour cream and mayo. Skipped the dill (really dislike) and added more garlic powder. Chilled for 4 hours, and thinned with milk before adding to a tossed green salad. Delish!

Excellent. The flavour of the mushrooms are not hidden by other flavours. Easy, fast and healthy.

Meatball Nirvana

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
Definitely Nirvana! Our family is not into spicy foods, so when I tripled the meat, I only doubled everything else. This worked for us. And for the first time ever, my meatballs did not crumble after baking. The meatballs were disappearing before they hit the freezer!

Kraut Bierocks

Reviewed: May 4, 2011
Excellent. I have used another recipe previously but I like this one much better (and so did my family). The sausage and mustard really made a huge difference. I goofed on the dough and used oil instead of shortening, needed to add more flour to get to a workable dough - but still a great taste. Thanks for a great recipe!

Oatmeal Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
Tasty but the first few pan loads of cookies really spread -too much fat? I used large flake oats (3 cups) and added 1 cup Smarties instead of chocolate chips. I am thinking the problem might be the large flake rolled oats. Next time I will try letting the dough sit for 1/2 hour before baking or maybe 3 cups of flour? Cookies are disappearing fast...

Favorite Cabbage Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2011
Really liked that there was not a lot of dressing. Forgot to buy a green pepper, so substituted grated carrots and green onions instead of green pepper and regular onions. Wonderful salad for our BBQ.

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2011
Excellent. Careful with the amount you add, a little goes a long way! 1st time, I used too much and the dressing was very over-powering. Much better when I used less.

Very very good! Doubled the recipe and made 2 loaves. I should have taken the extra time and made into muffins.

Really good but I added too much flour so was not very soft - will try again because the flavour was great.

Raspberry Almond Coffeecake

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
One of my favourite recipes! If the cake looks a little thick, I add a tad of milk. I really like this with blackberries but any berry works.

Joy's Prizewinning Trifle

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
Highly successful dessert! I prefer more pudding in triffle, so I used 2 packages of pudding mixed with 3 cups milk, 1 cup of source cream and about 2/3 of the whipped topping. This allowed the top layer to be only whipped toppings. Was afraid that some of guests might not enjoy all the types of fruit - since there were no leftovers, I guess it was not a problem!
