I've made this recipe maybe 5-7 times and it is a hit every single time. This year I didn't have a pie pan so I made it in a cake pan, which wound up being a better idea. In a pie pan, the sauce quickly overflows when putting into the pie and boils over while baking, making quite a mess.
I now use a cookie sheet lined with non-stick aluminum foil then place the pie on the sheet during baking. Clean up is easier. Also, the cake pan holds in the fluid a lot better than a pie pan.
This recipe is a winner. I'll never make any other apple pie recipe again.
