French Bread with the Kitchen Aid

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
I can only imagine how great this will look when I don't mess it up by A) not pinching the edges together and B) not cutting the slit too too deep. The taste is subtle, the texture was perfect. I misted the oven walls for the first five minutes. Thanks for the recipe, the instructions, and the last minute coaching!

Ham Salad Spread

This really was a great recipe. I substituted 2 dill pickles as I had no relish but otherwise followed the recipe and used it to make sandwiches. Thanks for the recipe!

Evin's Indian Apricot Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
This was absolutely yummy. Used peach preserves instead of apricot because I really thought they were apricot preserves *doh* but otherwise followed recipe exactly! Thank you very much for the recipe Evin!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
Woohoo! These are sooo yummy. The recipe is very forgiving, since I forgot to put the salt in and they took an hour and a half to rise (all my fault) but they still came out fantastic. Thanks for the recipe!

Pear Apple Kuchen

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
This was really good and might even have been better if I hadn't lost a good part of it to the bottom of my oven. My fault, not the recipe's, as I overestimated the depth of my casserole dish. Mental note to self - when in doubt, the answer is NO, this baking dish is NOT big enough. I followed the recipe exactly, although I forgot to add the pecans, which in this case was a good thing since they would also have been on the bottom of my oven). Thank you for the recipe LadySparkle! Next time I won't mess it up, and this is definitely worth making again!

Five Minute Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
Have made this twice now. The first time I followed the recipe exactly and although it was really very good, I didn't like the texture; something about the crunchiness of the sugar in the ice cream just didn't seem right to me. I made it again a second time and substituted about a tablespoon of honey for the sugar, and the texture was much nicer IMO. The honey taste did come through somewhat, but it wasn't unpleasant. I think I will keep trying different variations, all in the name of science, of course. Thanks for the recipe!

Mushroom and Mascarpone Ravioli

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2010
Woohoo, these are amazing, and I had to use dried thyme so I imagine they would be even better with fresh. I made tortellini using only one wrapper for each. This is pretty labour intensive, so I doubt that I would make it for a dinner party, but cooking for 1 or 2 people would be absolutely worth it. Tnanks for the recipe!

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
The only thing I changed was using 1/2 tsp Hot madras curry powder and 1 tsp regular curry powder. Made it yesterday and it was delicious. Waited to review so that I could try the leftovers today and I agree with other reviews, the taste just gets better and better. I can see that I will have to make a double batch next time. Lovely recipe, thank you for posting it.

Pumpkin Pie Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
I just realised that I forgot to rate this after making it. I substituted ginger, cloves, cinnamon and fresh ground nutmeg as I had no pumpkin pie spice. I probably doubled what was called for, but then I do that in my pumpkin pie recipe as well, so it is more to do with my personal preference than a lack in the recipe. I used the biscuit mix recipe from this site. I really liked this warm served with whipped cream, but I loved it cold, the flavors were more pronounced. Thanks for the recipe!

Honey Ginger Shrimp

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
This sounded so great I decided to make it right away. I reduced the red pepper to about a teaspoon but added a little cayenne pepper. I doubled the honey becuase I like sweet things and used fresh ginger as I had it on hand. I also used half butter, half olive oil because I think butter makes everything taste better. I served it over coconut rice and it was delicious. I will definitely make this again. Thanks for a great recipe!

Sweet Potato Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2010
These were very good. I replaced the sweet potato with mashed pumpkin because it was what I had on hand. Sadly, I could not detect any pumpkin taste, but it did give the rolls a beautiful color and texture. As made, I would only give these 4 stars, but I will allow that using sweet potatoes might have made the difference. Thanks for the recipe!

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

Not sure if I would use the poppy seeds again in this dressing, and I normally love poppy seeds. Cut the sugar to 1/4 like other reviewer's suggested. Pretty and tasty salad!

Tantalizing Turkey and Blue Cheese Meatballs

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
I made these a while ago and realised that I forgot to rate them. These were really very good. I had no jalapenos on hand, so I subbed with green tabasco sauce instead. I think I added a bit more blue cheese, just because I love it. Thanks for the recipe!

Quick Yeast Rolls

First time I ever made yeast rolls, so I am not sure what they are supposed to be like. These tasted very good, although the texture was a bit rough. I subbed butter for shortening but otherwise followed recipe.
