Honey Ginger Shrimp

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
This sounded so great I decided to make it right away. I reduced the red pepper to about a teaspoon but added a little cayenne pepper. I doubled the honey becuase I like sweet things and used fresh ginger as I had it on hand. I also used half butter, half olive oil because I think butter makes everything taste better. I served it over coconut rice and it was delicious. I will definitely make this again. Thanks for a great recipe!

Blue Cheese Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
This was really very good. I substituted fresh garlic for the powder, spring onion greens for the chives and roquefort for the blue cheese as those were the ingredients I had on hand. Next time I will try it with the blue cheese, but it was quite delicious this way. Thanks for the recipe!

Chicken Piccata with Angel Hair Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
I wasn't sure how I felt about this dish when I first tasted it as the lemon was so pronounced but it started tasting better and better and now I can say that I really enjoyed it. I followed the recipe except for the capers and parsley since I hate both. I may have reduced it too much, as there was not a lot of sauce, so I might double it next time. Thanks for the recipe!

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
The only thing I changed was using 1/2 tsp Hot madras curry powder and 1 tsp regular curry powder. Made it yesterday and it was delicious. Waited to review so that I could try the leftovers today and I agree with other reviews, the taste just gets better and better. I can see that I will have to make a double batch next time. Lovely recipe, thank you for posting it.

Chicken Dijon

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2010
I followed the recipe exactly (something I rarely do) and it was very good. My guest enjoyed it enough to ask for the recipe. I may make it again but I would season the chicken and try adding sautéed mushrooms to the sauce before serving. Thanks for the recipe.

Five Minute Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
Have made this twice now. The first time I followed the recipe exactly and although it was really very good, I didn't like the texture; something about the crunchiness of the sugar in the ice cream just didn't seem right to me. I made it again a second time and substituted about a tablespoon of honey for the sugar, and the texture was much nicer IMO. The honey taste did come through somewhat, but it wasn't unpleasant. I think I will keep trying different variations, all in the name of science, of course. Thanks for the recipe!

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
I followed the recipe other than using butter instead of margarine. Very good, although it was drier than I had expected , possibly because of the butter, or due to my unreliable oven. Thanks for the recipe!

Roast Beef with Coffee

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
I used a very cheap cut of beef that I had no clue what else to do with, so my expectations were very low. This roast turned out surprisingly good. Although it was not particularly tender, I blame the beef and not the recipe. I had plenty of gravy and I could not really detect the coffee flavor (I used espresso). Thanks for the recipe!

Penne Pasta with Spinach and Bacon

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2010
I accidentally added an onion (so used to frying garlic with onion) so I am not sure exactly how it would have been without it, but it tasted good even with the onion. Thanks for the recipe.

This really was a great recipe. I substituted 2 dill pickles as I had no relish but otherwise followed the recipe and used it to make sandwiches. Thanks for the recipe!

Sweet Potato Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2010
These were very good. I replaced the sweet potato with mashed pumpkin because it was what I had on hand. Sadly, I could not detect any pumpkin taste, but it did give the rolls a beautiful color and texture. As made, I would only give these 4 stars, but I will allow that using sweet potatoes might have made the difference. Thanks for the recipe!

Garlic-Lemon Double Stuffed Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2010
Substituted panko bread crumbs with added italian seasoning, otherwise I followed the recipe exactly. The chicken did not brown very much, so it didn't look very appetizing but it tasted pretty good. Thanks for the recipe!

Pumpkin Pie Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
I just realised that I forgot to rate this after making it. I substituted ginger, cloves, cinnamon and fresh ground nutmeg as I had no pumpkin pie spice. I probably doubled what was called for, but then I do that in my pumpkin pie recipe as well, so it is more to do with my personal preference than a lack in the recipe. I used the biscuit mix recipe from this site. I really liked this warm served with whipped cream, but I loved it cold, the flavors were more pronounced. Thanks for the recipe!
