My favorite family cooking traditions
my mom's mom's bread pudding, her homemade biscuits (I think I've found a workable substitute on here); letting my grandkids help me make things in the kitchen- there's no better way to get a kid interested in cooking, than letting them get their hands into things.
My cooking triumphs
The Key Lime Cake 3 on this site has really inspired me- it's awesome! I've never had a lot of success with cakes before this one. I love making jams, jellies and preserved- my favorites are fig preserves and apple jelly.
My cooking tragedies
I tried for years to make homemade 'cat-head' biscuits like my grandmother used to make, but could never get knack- I've found a recipe on here that I think will work (Kentucky biscuits). Nothing better than homemade biscuits and fig preserves on a cold morning.

Almost No Fat Banana Bread
This is a very good recipe! I followed some of the suggestions in the reviews and it's wonderful. I did add extra banana and applesauce (and added a few chocolate chips), and I used whole wheat flour instead of white flour. I made muffins instead of a loaf, and it was delicious! I used my 'paddle' attachment on my mixer so it didn't overmix everything, and they were moist, delicious and sweet- not rubbery at all. Thanks to the person who noted about using very ripe bananas- mine were very soft and the skins almost brown. I think that makes a big difference in how well they turn out.

Key Lime Cake III
I believe this is the best cake I've ever made. I took it to our church's Thanksgiving meal and someone even used the server to scrape the crumbs off the plate. I made extra frosting to give it better coverage; next time I'll add a cup of sugar and a cup of self-rising flour to the batter to make the layers a little bigger. Other than that, it was perfect!
