About this Cook
I'm just a girl that craves to create in as many ways as she possibly can :) Cooking is the only way that's fun both while you're making it and after, though!
My favorite things to cook
I especially love to bake and do desserts, but it's fun and tasty to try my hand at asian inspired dishes, as well. I'm vegetarian, so I get the challenge of doing all this without meat :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Giant family potlucks on warm summer days always bring fond memories. Just recently, I've been able to start bring something all my own, and it's lots of fun when everyone tells me how great my cooking is.
My cooking triumphs
The best thing I've done with my cooking is help my husband learn to cook on his own, too :) Nothing's better than that.
My cooking tragedies
It was a week before our wedding, and I had the menu all planned out and all the ingredients ready for me to cook them up. I had even planned on making the wedding cake all on my own. And then, right when I needed it, my oven stopped working and we couldn't get a new one to our house for another week! Thankfully I got the cake and all the food cooked, thanks to my future mother-in-law. But it was a pretty close shave!

Candied Fruit Bread
I had some candied fruitcake mix on hand, as well as some candied ginger and slivered almonds, so I used those instead of what the recipe calls for. I actually used about 1/4 cup more fruit in total, too. I like it. I think the ginger is an excellent addition. I'm not too fond of how hard and crusty the outside of the bread got, but I think if I had covered it right after it came out of the oven, it would have softened a lot more. I'm not sure if I'll use this particular recipe again, but I like the concept quite a bit.

Amish Meatloaf
I'm a vegetarian, so I can't vouch for this recipe myself, but my hubby loved it. I followed the suggestions made, to cut the sugar and ketchup in half and to halve the sauce. He said it was very good.

Quick and Almost-Professional Buttercream Icing
Very good! I think I beat my frosting too long because it has lots of large bubbles in it, but a quick beating with a wooden spoon solves that problem.
