Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: May 19, 2013
I had to adapt this for food allergy reasons and to reduce the sodium and fat. I made homemade cream of mushroom soup with no sodium added beef broth. I used skim milk to reduce the fat. I used (1) no sodium added bouillon packet and added no sodium added broth instead of water. I browned the patties and baked them (covered) in the oven for 350 F for one hour. Absolutely delicious! DH wants this for his birthday dinner.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2013
I made these twice, and these were very good. The second time, I added 1/4 tsp of vanilla; and they were wonderful. I rated this recipe 5 stars based on the second batch. One note is that it doesn't make very many pancakes. Each time I made these, I had to quadruple the recipe to feed 8 people.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2012
It was OK, but the pumpkin overwhelmed and clashed with the chocolate. I love chocolate, but this bread would have tasted better without it.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
Good soup, but it tasted better without the bacon. I made it exactly as written, and it was OK. I added sour cream which improved it.

Special Irish Beef Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
This was very bitter, and my kids wouldn't touch it. I followed the directions exactly except that I used my slow cooker. I had to stir 3 CUPS of brown sugar into it to reduce the bitterness. I will not make this recipe again.

Vegetarian Chickpea Sandwich Filling

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
Very tasty! I will definitely make this again. I added chopped kosher dill pickle, plus some pickle juice to help moisten it. I used 1/4 tsp of dried onion powder instead of fresh chopped onion. I left out the celery and followed the recipe otherwise. Delicious on a whole grain wrap or with wheat crackers. Good lunch for Fridays in Lent.

Slow Cooker Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2010
Very bland. I followed the recipe as written for the seasonings & reduced the amount of potatoes. I had to add more seasonings at the end, and it was still blah. We ate it with sour cream & cheddar cheese to add some flavor. I will not try this recipe again.

Italian Bread Using a Bread Machine

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2010
Awesome bread! This recipe cannot be improved. Like other reviewers, I used 1 tsp of salt and put the loaves on parchment paper on top of my baking stone. I wish I could give this more than 5 stars.

Extra Easy Hummus

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2010
I used low sodium garbanzo beans and added 1.5 tsp of lemon juice, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp black pepper and 1 T of onion powder. Very good sesame free hummus that is lower fat and sodium than regular hummus. Definitely a recipe to keep!

Honey Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2010
Excellent soft, light wheat bread. I have made this several times with great results. This is my favorite wheat bread recipe. We use it for sandwiches and snacking.

Peasant Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2010
Awesome! I have used my bread machine for 10 years, and this is the best recipe I have found. One note is that it did not bake all the way on light crust. I made it again using the medium crust setting, and the crust was pale and the bread was delicious. Next time I will try the dark crust setting.
