My favorite things to cook
I love cooking homemade lasagna...it takes forever because the sauce simmers for hours, but boy is it tasty! I also love anything with garlic, but tend to put too much in :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
We really don't have any traditions in our family, but we do barbeque quite a bit. There's just something about homemade barbeque burgers that Dad whips up!
My cooking triumphs
I'm most proud of my from scratch creme brulee with a real vanilla bean! Boy was it creamy and all my guests raved about it. I also cooked short ribs for a dinner party that turned out amazing...like from a restaraunt. Usually everything else comes out as intended :)
My cooking tragedies
Ohhhh I tried to bake an Italian fruit pie once that was all cheese in the crust and a beautiful display of fresh fruit on top. The fruit came out perfect but no one could stomach the cheese part...which was 90% of the dessert! Really bad, but everyone laughed about it later!

Butter Chickpea Curry
Yummy! Didn't have garam masala on hand so made it from scratch. Think it made the cumin too over powering. Will buy some real spice and try again. Here's what I used for the garam masala: 1/2 tsp cumin 1/2 tsp paprika 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper 1/4 tsp crumbled bay leaves 1/8 tsp ground cloves

Arugula and Watermelon Salad
I use 1/2 a red onion and soak it in water for a few hours to take the "bite" out. I also only use about 1/4 C. balsamic vinegar since I don't have the vinaigrette.

Slow Cooker Chili II
Not bad. Seemed to be missing the tomato flavor and was a bit dry so we added a 28oz can of crushed tomatoes. Probably should have added more chili powder too but will need to next time.
