My favorite things to cook
I become bored easily so I enjoy international cuisines. I like to surprise my husband with things he's never tried before. I keep track of world holidays and events and search for recipes accordingly.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother was an excellent cook and baker. She passed her skills on to my sister. I was too busy making mud pies and playing barbies in the backyard and as a result I did not inherit her abilities (but my mud pies are to die for). I have to use a recipe and follow it to the letter. I cannot taste when things are missing and cannot add and subtract to recipes like some people do. I am not creative in this area but I love the challenge and I'm getting better every day. UPDATE - It's been 4 years since I joined this site and even though I've made some awesome meals thanks to this site, I'm still hopelessly (even though I hate to admit it), a "Bad Little Chef". You either have it or you don't. I was in another line-up when they were handing out cooking skills. ;)
My cooking triumphs
Some of my best work came from this site. I appreciate all the reviews and suggestions from people. I made a lasagna and a seafood pasta from this site that people are still raving about. You guys make me look good!
My cooking tragedies
I made a Sacher Torte one day. I realize now I must have been out of my mind to attempt something so difficult. It turned out like a brick but the guests still ate it. Some may have lost teeth as a result. I have noticed that no one comes over now if I tell them I'm cooking or baking. It takes people a long time to forget a bad experience like that.
