Spooky Witches' Fingers
I made these for an adult Halloween party, and instead of red icing, I used seedless raspberry jam. I added a dab on each 'nail bed' and then put a split-in-half almond on top of the jam, letting it ooze out around the nail. I also put some at the bottom 'cut' end of the finger. I used double the vanilla extract since I didn't have almond. They are delicious and eerie-looking! The jam turns brownish-red like blood, and jam tastes better (to me) than decorator icing. These are easy and delicious, I'll make them again.

Almond Shortbread I
I'm not sure why, but I was unable to roll out this dough (after following instructions exactly). It was too dry and crumbly. I tried letting warm back to room temp but it was still too crumble. Instead I pressed it into the bottom of a metal pie pan (1/2 the dough into 1 pie pan), pricked it thoroughly with a fork, and baked about 25 minutes or til light golden. It was delicious cut into wedges. But I was disappointed I couldn't use my cookie cutters.

Homemade Noodles
I used to make homemade noodles but it's been years, and this recipe is pretty close to what I remember. I did use two eggs, since they were small-ish eggs, and I like to add a pinch of ground thyme & sage to the dough as well. It mixed up easily in my Kitchenaid mixer & the pizza cutter idea was helpful. I dried them on my stacking cookie-cooling racks. Yum, thanks!
