Comforting Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2015
This was really good with some shredded cheese melted on top. Next time I'll add broccoli.

Easy Chicken Cutlets with Apples

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2015
Made according to recipe with the exception of using white wine instead of sherry and Marsala just because that's what I had in the fridge. Served with rice.

French Toast I

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2015
The directions were only for a gas stove, and I have electric, but I guesstimated what a medium high flame looks like and settled at 5 on my stove. This seemed like a pretty standard French toast recipe, and that's how it turned out. I used butter flavored Pam and butter instead of oil.

Mahogany Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2015
Made as directed except I let them marinate for a few days in a Ziploc. They could've been a little crisper but I know to just stick them under a broiler for a few minutes next time. The flavor was savory and not spicy at all.

Over the Top Nachos

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2015
Can't go wrong with nachos. Fix them how you like with toppings of your choice. I sauteed onions with ground beef and taco seasoning. I topped the chips with salsa con queso, ground beef mix, salsa and sour cream. Naughty but good.

Chicken Biscuit Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2015
Would've gotten 5 stars if the biscuits hadn't started to burn on top. I used a mixed frozen vegetable bag so there were also green beans and corn which was good. I cut back on the onion to a half onion and added garlic salt to the vegetable gravy mix.

Baked Ziti III

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2015
Very good. Filled a 9x13 glass dish to the brim. I used ground deer burger instead of ground beef because that's what we had in the freezer. I used all mozzarella instead of provolone because it was cheaper to buy one package and use it all than to buy two different types of cheese and only half of each. I mixed the noodles with the sour cream and put a layer of sauce first as suggested by other reviews and that helped keep the noodles soft. Yum!

Slow Cooker Mock-Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2015
I used 7up instead of mountain dew as suggested by other reviews. The end result was tender and moist. I like a little more of a savory flavor to a pot roast and this was a little more sweet but still very good.

Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2014
I cut way back on the peppers and hot sauce(used Frank's red hot) and cut a little back on the spice. I added cumin and forgot the onion. Turned out perfectly.

Cowboy Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2014
I don't know if it was the pecans I added or just the recipe but this didn't sit well with my stomach.

Tea Time Tasties

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2014
I didn't realize that the recipe called for a 3 oz package of cream cheese (only comes in 8 oz near me) or that it requires a mini-muffin tin. That should be in specific instructions somewhere. So I ended up doubling the recipe, which meant that it took nearly twice as long to bake. They were okay, but not exactly a hit at my holiday party. I don't think anyone knew what they were, and tea time tasties sounds like some delicate cookie that old ladies eat with tea, not mini pies which is essentially what these were. Again, not terrible, just probably won't make again.

Chicken Fried Chicken

Substituted corn flakes for potato flakes, made in deep fryer. Was perfectly delectable!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2014
I used boneless tenderloin because that's what I had. An hour made the sauce burn and stick to the dish. Luckily the chicken was edible, but also had a charred flavor.

Sister Schubert's® Herb Garlic and Cheese Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2014
The herb mixture was just a little more than needed but gave the rolls a delightful flavor that complements Alfredo pasta well.

Great-Aunt Nina's Noodles and Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2014
Used frozen chicken breast and store bought egg noodles that I already had in the pantry. I missed the part that said to add more broth for soup, so I thought it needed more liquid. Could also use more carrots and less celery. Good for a chilly autumn day.

Ghirardelli Coconut Almond Torte with Chocolate Chips

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2014
It would've been better if my springform pan hadn't leaked. I know now to use wax paper. I've never had a torte or made one before, so this was interesting. It was kind of like giant macaroons. I made homemade whipped cream for the first time to have with this too which was pretty good. Overall the taste was good, just very heavy on the almond/chocolate/coconut flavor. Very rich.

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2014
I made the dough as directed (adding just a tiny bit of ovaltine) and froze the dough for about 45 minutes like other reviews suggested. I tried using a spoon to drop into the powdered sugar then rolling into balls, and I also tried rolling into balls first then coating in the powdered sugar. The first way wasn't as messy but the cookies didn't always stay in a ball very well. I didn't have parchment paper so I sprayed the cookie sheets with cooking spray. I did make most of the cookies too big and now I know they should be small, like the recipe says. Still very good though!
