I retired from a 32-yr software development career in 2003 to return to school full-time, graduating in 2006 with a degree in music (composition, conducting, and vocal performance), and attended graduate school, pursuing a M.Mus. in music history & literature 2006-2010. I currently sing in two choirs, and direct a seniors choir (32 singers, average age: 85).
I'm originally from Kansas City, MO, and I've lived all over: midwest, SC, Washington, D.C. area, San Francisco Bay area, and now the far northwest corner of the US. I love to cook, hate to shop, and when I watch television, I usually watch BBC America, Food Network, or HGTV, although I'll admit to indulging in a little "Amazing Race" and "The Big Bang Theory" :-)
My favorite things to cook
I'm an omnivore, so I enjoy eating a variety of things. I live in a great part of the country for fresh fish and wonderful produce, especially berries, apples, and root veggies. I love Italian, Mexican, and American regional specialties.
My favorite family cooking traditions
None -- my mother wasn't a very good cook. I started cooking for the family when I was 7 yrs old. I now visit my brother and his family for the holidays every year, and cook for them.
My cooking triumphs
Several dinner parties involving 12-15 guests, and 7 courses.
My cooking tragedies
None yet, but there's still time.
