About this Cook
I love to cook. When I moved from home in Ohio to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin 6 years ago, I never imagined how important baking would become to me. The therapy of creating something for others helped me overcome home-sickness and depression.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I'm also a cake decorator and cookie lover. I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease this summer so I am learning to develop new methods for doing and eating what I love.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love my great grandmother's "special oranges". Though there is no cooking involved, eating these oil, salt, pepper and paprika rubbed orange slices at Christmas each year was a special tradition that I will pass on to my children.
My cooking triumphs
I catered my brother's wedding shower three years ago for over 50 people, including salads, sandwhiches, appetizers, and mini cakes decorated with fresh flowers.
My cooking tragedies
Most of the gluten free attempts at baking or cooking at at first tragic, and then I have to remind myself that I am just learning - it'll take time.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins
These are the BEST blueberry muffins you will ever make. And you will be asked for the recipe so keep it on hand. I have used the crumb topping for many other sweet breads and muffins and it's always fantastic! This recipe also works really well with a gluten free flour mix, even for the crumb topping, which is rare.

Carrot Cake III
Most amazing carrot cake ever. I buy the pre-bagged matchstick carrots and then hand crush them to smaller pieces. It's so moist and delicious. I have been asked for this recipe more than anything else I've ever made. Ever.

Microwave Pralines
I LOVE these and try to make them each Christmas, and then try NOT to eat them all myself!
