Apple Butter Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2010
Absolutely DELICIOUS! I omitted the raisins and added 1/4 tsp salt. The icing drizzled all over the top added a perfect touch of sweetness. I loved how they were sooo soft and flavorful. Definitely a keeper!

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2010
Perfect! I ran out of shortening after 1/3 cup, but butter worked just fine. I pressed the balls somewhat flat and only baked for seven minutes. They turned out wonderfully! I would eat them plain any day, but I'm sure they'll be great with icing too!

Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
Wonderful!! The only thing I did differently was cook it longer than 10 minutes, simply allowing enough time for the cranberries to bloat and fall apart so that there were no whole cranberries left. My family loves it and so do I! It may be sweeter than some cranberry sauces, but I like it that way.

Chocolate Chip Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2011
It was good, but not as good as I hoped. Something was lacking, but I don't quite know what. I didn't have chocolate graham crackers so I used regular with cocoa powder, which turned out fine. I added more brown sugar, extra vanilla, and some salt to the cream cheese mixture. Never make anything without salt. I baked it for 45 minutes and thought the edges were slightly overdone and the middle slightly underdone. Perhaps a different temperature would fix this?

Applesauce Brownies I

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
Great recipe--SUPER moist, and you definitely can't tell they're low fat!! I actually doubled the cocoa powder because 2 tbsp. wasn't very chocolaty. If you like rich chocolate brownies, then I would recommend adding even more than four tablespoons! I also mixed in the chocolate chips and left out the walnuts and 2 tbsp. sugar. Whether to put in the cinnamon is more a matter of opinion: some people like it, some don't. I thought it was good but I might try it without when I'm in the mood for straight chocolate.

Sopapilla Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2010
Great dessert, but I was generous with the butter and still only used about a third of it. That's my only complaint though! :)

Wonderful Banana Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
Excellent cake!! The only reason I rated it four stars is because I added a couple things not in the recipe that made it a five-star cake. I used three rather than two VERY ripe bananas, and for the topping I combined a large container of cool whip and two small boxes of instant vanilla pudding (prepared). It tasted exactly like a cake version of banana pudding! Everyone loved it, and it was so easy too!!

Irish Potato Farls

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2012
Maybe I did something wrong...mine were practically impossible to cook. I thought the taste was good (because I added lots of seasonings), but the dough was so sticky, even with extra flour, that they would not stay together or form a shape for anything when I cooked them.
