Marrakesh Vegetable Curry

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2013
I was disappointed considering all the favorable reviews. It wasn't bad, just lacking in any real flavor. I like the combo of all the veggies so maybe I would consider it again and up the spice level.

Roasted Garlic Lemon Broccoli

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
So simple and so tasty. I forgot to add the lemon juice and it was still great. Actually, I'm not a big lemon fan when it comes to savory food so I may just keep skipping it :)

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
Followed the recipe exactly (tho with tricolor rotini) but made it the day before and added a bit of olive oil and balsamic right before serving to moisten it back up a bit. Went over really well at the birthday party it was for and I was asked for the recipe a few times. It's a keeper. And don't switch to a wimpier cheese - the asiago works really well.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2010
I'm not really a big meatloaf person but I loved this one. Made it exactly as written and it was a hit at our house. Definitely a keeper.

Strawberry Cake from Scratch

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2010
I gave this 4 stars b/c a few other people seemed to like them but I was not really a fan. A bit too 'fake' strawberry for me which I assume was from the gelatin. I did use fresh strawberries with sugar which I think would be better than the frozen. I think if I want a strawberry tasting cupcake I'd prefer a yellow cake with strawberry frosting.

Lemon Cream Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2010
Very good cupcake though it loses the 5th star b/c it's so faintly lemon. I added extract to the frosting (which needs to be doubled) and they were really yummy. Add the extract to the batter and/or frosting and it's a 5.

Hot Pizza Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
This was really good and also very simple to make. I did as others suggested and added some garlic powder to the cream cheese. I mixed it up and let it set in the fridge several hours. I microwaved it and thought it came out great. No real need to put it in the oven. I will definitely bring it to another gathering.

Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
This is so ridiculously simple and yet it's sooo good and a definite crowd pleaser. I added some cilantro and lime juice per others suggestions but even if you didn't I'm sure it would be good. Oh, one thing though, the 'spicy' part is inaccurate. Not the tiniest bit spicy. But still super tasty!

Baked Pork Spring Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
These were good - definitely didn't miss the frying. They did get dark very quickly though so keep an eye on them. I'll use this method going forward with different fillings as well.

Fresh Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2010
Super tasty, super easy. I used half an onion and a bit less sugar and walnuts vs. almonds and it was very good. I'll be making it again.

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2010
Definitely use much less salt, as most have suggested. Otherwise it was tasty. Think I might use half and half next time (or even whole milk) as the sauce was a bit thicker than I'd like.

Chicken Katsu

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
Good, simple Katsu chicken. I know some think it's bland but it's great with sauces. Such as the Japanese curry one I made to go with it (S&B brand Golden Curry from the Asian section of grocery stores). Served it with sticky white rice and it was almost as good as Wagamama's version!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
Awesome simple recipe. Cut down 1/2 tsp on the cream of tartar but I think you really need to use at least some b/c that's what makes them Snickerdoodles vs. just sugar cookies. Kept everything else the same and they came out great. Went over big even with those who said they generally aren't 'cookie people'.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2010
These were easy to make and very moist and chocolatey. I'm giving 4 stars b/c they're almost too chocolatey (not something I say often). One friend really liked them but I couldn't even really eat them b/c I felt like I do if I have caffeine - there's just that much chocolate. But definitely recommended for those who really like dark chocolate.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
I don't typically even like ginger cookies but my husband does so I made some this weekend. Well, I've found the first ginger cookie I like! They're so soft and chewy. I brought some of them to a friend's house and she wants the recipe and proclaimed them the 'best cookie ever'. Well deserved ratings!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2010
These are the best sugar cookies ever. I really don't understand how anyone rated them poorly. So easy to make and super delicious. Made them for Christmas as cut outs and plan to do the same with hearts for Valentines Day. I frost them with the sugar cookie icing from this site. I upped the sugar and used both almond extract and vanilla per some others' suggestions and they were just the right level of sweet. And the best thing is that they stay soft! Definitely a winner.

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2010
These are sooo good - everyone loves them. I used 1/2c brown sugar and 1/4c white as others suggested and added more banana (b/c I had extra and I love banana). I will definitely be making these again.

Indian Chicken Curry (Murgh Kari)

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
This was my first attempt at an Indian dish and it was great! Easy to make and very similar to the chicken curry at our local Indian restaurant. Served it with basmati rice and naan - yum. This is a keeper.

Wicked Good Veggie Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
Made this today and it was delicious! I used veggie crumbles and cut the cayenne in half b/c my parents and sister (the vegetarian) were visiting and don't like too much heat. Definitely my new fave chili recipe -even over meat varieties!
