I am a registered dietitian who loves to be in the kitchen. It's definitely my happy place. I enjoy putting healthy spins on all dishes I make, but I also know when to not mess with a good thing.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things include; asian and mexian dishes, homemade pizza and calzone's, soups and stews, and labor intensive dishes like paella.
I love nothing more than baking, I even bake my own dog treats for my Pug George and for all my dog-loving friends and family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Learning to cook for myself in college. I grew up in a household where both my parents worked, so we ate out a lot. Now, I'd much rather eat at home knowing whatever I create in the kitchen will be fresher, healthier, cheaper, and tastier than most take out places in the area.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking paella over a real charcoal grill over smoking hickory wood chips.
Hosting a sucessful 4 course gourmet dinner for 8 in my home.
Making my own chicken soup from my own chicken stock for the first time--took all day, but it was well worth it.
My cooking tragedies
One of the first times I cooked for my now Fiancee I tried to make a Turkey & Spinach meatloaf...it turned a bright green color in the oven, and to this day--nearly 5 years later he'll still never let me live down the "green meatloaf" despite many sucessful attempts at mealoaf since!
