About this Cook
I come from two families who love to cook, grill, and bake. I married into more of the same. A rich heritage in German and Irish feeds into a wide variety of tastes. The area we live in also gives us plenty of Southern and Down-Home inspiration as well. My husband and I love to grill. We make our own sauces and specialize in ribs, wings, and steak. We are great with soups and stews, breakfast foods, and cookies. These are our strongest suits.
My favorite things to cook
Steak, Ribs, Gumbo, Cookies, Pies and cobblers, Soups, Wings, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Full-blown large family dinners where you can hardly hear others talking for all the commotion. Eating dough (shhh) and decorating cookies with my grandma, my mother, and now my daughter. Firing up the grill (charcoal of course) in any weather conditions with my guy. We will grill anything in any conditions- rain, sun or snow. Feeding friends and family for no reason other than the fact that you thought about them when you were cooking, or they just happened to stop by. We always make enough for EVERYONE!
My cooking triumphs
good Chilli. Gift worthy cookies every Holiday Season. Multiple wing and rib competitions. Seeing people's faces light up when they taste, slurp, or chew one of our creations.
My cooking tragedies
Bahahahahahaha, General Tsao's chicken. My guy and I tried to make it once and turned out to be the blandest most sticky disaster ever. He was so angered with it, he took the pot out, walked calmly down the stairs, held it out with both hands, and punted the pot into a dumpster like a football. I'll never forget it. It looked like it could crawl away if we had left it unattended.
