Ok, so it's not healthy - but most "comfort food isn't. Nice on a winter night.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2002
Ok..so I have had every person I know try at one time or another to teach me how to fix biscuits. All have failed miserably, as has every "fool-proof" recipe. I am a good cook in other areas...just not biscuits. I have not given up though, and was looking at the reviews for these biscuits. After reading a couple (especially the beer guy) I figure this recipe is worth one more completly incompetent attempt. WRONG!!!! - I got BISCUITS!!! Not birdfood (too crumbly) or sports equipment (the ever popular hockey pucks) I got real, honest-to-god BISCUITS!!! Of course they were not as fluffy as everyone says...but I have a feeling that next time - after I have replaced the 2 year old baking powder that I just noticed the date on - they will be fabulous! The flavor is wonderful. My husband and I are happily awaiting a morning meal of BISCUITS and gravy!! No matter how completely incompetent you are at making biscuits - FINALLY - this is the recipe that will work!!!

Brown Sugar Pie I

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2002
After reading the other reviews, I paid close attention to what I did as I made this pie. I did not measure with great accuracy - just threw everything in a saucpan before I started to mix it all up. I let it cook for about a minute after it started to boil, and then baked it per the directions. If did not spill over, or burn. It came out of the oven hot and bubbling, and semi-firm. It set as it cooled...and was fantastic!!! Incredibly rich and sweet.

Hershey's ® Hot Fudge Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2001
This is the first thing that ever made my chocaholic husband say "too much chocolate!" Try it on your chocaholic and see for your self! Definatly a comfort food. Because it uses mostly dry ingredients it is easy to transport the ingredients and bake in other places. I'm still trying different ways to make this out camping - I can't quite figure out how to bake it over a wood fire. The chocolate flavor comes from the taste of cocoa - and the brand does make a difference - which is different from the chocolate taste in chips or bars. In reading other reviews, I think that some people were expecting a "cake" - Instead of thinking of this as a cake recipe - think of it as a dessert recipe. It has a cake-like top layer and a pudding-like bottom layer.

This is one of my potluck recipes...always a big hit. I use cornflakes to top it instead of crackers
