Four Egg Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2005
I am in agreement with the other reviewers who claimed this to be a good substitution for a "box mix." I love that the ingredients are all things I already have in my kitchen! I made the batter for this cake into cupcakes and it turned out perfectly. I plan to keep this recipe close at hand.

Caramel Snack Mix

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2005
I made a couple changes to the recipe by using pretzels in place of about 3 cups of Chex and peanuts to replace the other nuts. I enjoyed the flavor of the end product, but the texture was a little too sticky for me. I had to microwave the caramel mix for longer, but don't think it ever reached the hardball stage, which would cause a less sticky result. I will make this again, but cook the caramel mixture on the stovetop.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2005
I am a brownie conissour and these were dense and fudgy, but a little on the thin side. This was probably because I don't have an 8x8, so I used a 9x9. I used a glass pan and reduced heat to 325 and they turned out great.

Easy Mini Quiches

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2005
My sister and I made these for Father's Day and they were wonderful! We used only 1/2 cup of Bisquick and 1 1/2 tsp. dried parsley and the flavor and texture were perfect. We served these alongside the Stuffed French Toast with some mimosas and fresh fruit for a great Father's Day brunch!

Peanut Patties

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2005
Well, I was the brave one who decided to try this recipe first since I love to try new things. I have to admit that mine didn't turn out. The problem is that the recipe gives a range of what you should cook the mixture to. I should have known better, but being impatient I only cooked it to 234 degrees. In order for the candy to set-up properly into patties, it has to be cooked to 240 without stirring. Consequently, I poured the entire mixture into a jelly roll pan and have a large pan that I can eat with a spoon. The taste is excellent, and I may even try it again sometime, but I'll be sure to cook it to 240.

Brown Sugar Cookies II

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2005
This recipe is really great. Since it's just my husband and I in the house, we usually don't get around to eating an entire batch of sweets. Now, I can just pop a few of these in the oven when we sit down for dinner and we can have warm chocolate chip cookies for dessert! The dough seems a little sticky to roll into a log, but the cookies turn out great!

Chocolate Dipped Orange Biscotti

Reviewed: May 10, 2005
I opted for a couple of changes in this recipe. First, I squeezed some of the juice from the orange into the batter to enhance the orange flavor. Unfortunately, the flavor still wasn't all that noticeable, and I had to add more flour to compensate for the extra liquid. Second, I dipped the biscotti into semisweet melted chocolate chips instead of bittersweet squares. This was a decent recipe, but if I try it again I will add some orange extract or oil.

Granny's Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2005
These brownies were good with the adjusted time and oven temperature. Unfortunately, I did not think they were "great". I was looking for a more dense texture in lieu of the cake-like texture that resulted from this recipe.

Melt In Your Mouth Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2005
This bread was really good, even though I'm not a big coconut fan. I can't wait to try it with butterscotch pudding mix!

My husband and I really enjoyed this recipe, and neither of us like cottage cheese! It's pretty healthy and very tasty.

Chocolate Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2004
This cheesecake was good, but not sweet enough for my personal taste. Also, I tried the tip about putting an ice cube in the bottom of my oven and have a suggestion. If you are going to try the ice cube trick, make sure the bottom of your oven is very clean-otherwise you will get smoke!

Honey Bun Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2004
This had a great taste but didn't turn out very pretty as the top half stuck in the bundt pan! The cake also failed to rise very much. I used about 3/4 of the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture and think that was too much. I probably won't make this again, but if I do, I won't use a bundt.

Pumpkin Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2004
I didn't have any trouble with lumps in my dip, thanks to all the warnings. However, I didn't care for the texture of this, even though I LOVE pumpkin. The texture was more like a batter, and I was looking for something more like a spread. Next time I might add more powdered sugar.

Artichoke Spread

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2004
After I made a couple changes (only out of personal preference) this was great! My husband and I decided to forgo the food processor and use a hand mixer instead. We added all ingredients (excepted artichokes) and whipped them together, adding a little milk for creaminess. Then we simply chopped the artichokes and beat them in! We served them with a tray of Club crackers and everyone raved!

Easiest Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2003
Wonderful, creamy, and delightful! I made this twice in one day because it was so delicious! Great because it doesn't use any ingredients an average baker wouldn't already have at home.

Brownie Oat Cookies

Reviewed: May 18, 2002
I decided to ignore the previous comments and to try these cookies-I am a chocolate and oatmeal addict. These cookies tasted awful. Not very much like chocolate and not very sweet, even with additional sugar. I will not make these again.

Yummy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2002
This recipe is great-with one exception!!!! It does not work without adding 1/2 cup of of water. The dough is thick and hard to stir but combines when rolled into balls. These cookies are really good for you and have a great taste!

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2002
I enjoyed this as a variation to the traditional peach cobbler. As previously recommended, I topped with brown sugar as well as cinnamon and I really enjoyed that. I served this warm with ice cream. Yum!
