Peach Pie the Old Fashioned Two Crust Way

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2006
This pie was decent. I'm not sure I enjoyed the nutmeg in here - I think it covered up the taste of the fresh peaches. I would make it again though and experiment a little.

Fruit Sherbet

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
I cannot say enough good things about this recipe! I used fresh squeezed juices straight from the juicer, 1% milk and reduced the sugar to 1 cup to try to make it a little more healthy and it was absolutely delicious!! I will be trying new combinations of juices in the future, but this was awesome as is. Thanks so much for sharing!

Fruity Angel Food Trifle

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
A definite winner! The only thing I changed was the fruit combination - I used strawberries, blueberries, fresh pineapple and mandarin oranges. I also used the French Vanilla Cool Whip. It turned out fantastic - will definitely be making this one again.

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: May 14, 2011
Love, love, love this recipe! It's the closest thing I've found to the version I love in a local restaurant. I followed the advice of some other reviewers and used a good quality sweet Marsala, doubled the sauce & mushrooms and added a bit of half & half and cornstarch/water mixture to thicken. Next time I think I made the mistake of doubling the olive oil & butter when I doubled the sauce, but I definitely did not need to do so as it was quite oily. Will definitely be adding this to my list of favorites!

Crispy Potato Wedges

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
This recipe was awesome! Like some of the others, I used seasoning salt instead of regular, but kept everything else the same. I will continue to play around with the spices a bit. After cutting the wedges, I soaked them in cold water for about 15 min to remove some of the starchiness and keep them crispy. Worked like a charm! Just make sure to pat them dry before adding the oil & spices. I covered my pan with foil and sprayed with nonstick spray and had zero problem with them sticking. Will definitely be a staple recipe for my family from now on.

Toasted Angel Food Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
I would have never thought of trying something like this but I had an angel food cake sitting around and I wanted a different way to serve it. I was pleasantly surprised!

Lance's French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2011
Delicious! French onion soup is one of those things that I try everywhere I go in hopes of finding "the best" and this recipe is awesome! The only changes I made were to only use 3 onions, and used half Marsala wine and half Sherry in place of the white wine - I like my soup a little sweeter so this was perfect for me. I also didn't have swiss cheese so I used sliced provolone. It was ok, but I'm still in search of the perfect cheese topping. All in all this is a fantastic recipe and very easy to whip up at home when I have a craving for it.

Creamy Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
This is the frosting recipe I have been searching for!! It is awesome for piping and tastes SO much better than traditional buttercream frosting. I took all the suggestions of "JustMe" (including subbing almond extract for vanilla) and it turned out perfectly! My advice: if you think it isn't the right consistency, just keep beating on high, mine took about 10 mins before it was a nice whipped consistency - I was a little worried along the way because it was looking quite curdled, but just be patient and hang in there - it will turn out! This will definitely be my go to recipe from now on. Update: I tried adding 1/4 cup pureed strawberries to use on vanilla cupcakes - DELICIOUS!! You need to whip quite a bit longer after adding the strawberries as it will look curdled and gross - but just let it whip away and eventually it will come around.

Seasoned Swai Fish Fillet

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2013
This was a really nice way to eat fish. I do not enjoy eating fish but try to work it in when I can as I become more health conscious. This marinade made the fish very easy to eat which is a plus in my book. 4 stars is the highest I could bring myself to give any fish recipe so it is high praise! I followed the recipe exactly with the exception of mixing in the paprika rather than sprinkling on. Aesthetically it would have looked better sprinkled I suppose but taste wise didn't make much difference. This will be a go-to when I "need" to eat my fish :)

I can't say enough good things about these bars. I have picky breakfast eaters - 19 mos and 3 yrs old - and they DEVOUR these. I have been making them at least once a week since I discovered the recipe. Well done!!

Crab-Artichoke Pizza

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
Great combination of ingredients! The only thing I changed was to use imitation crab meat instead of canned and a pre-made thin crust for my base. Will definitely be adding this to my weekly rotation.

Bacon Water Chestnut Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
These are delcious! The only change I made was to cook them in the oven for 35 minutes...then transfered them to a slow cooker on low heat so they'd stay warm for the party...and also b/c I wanted to serve them in the sauce. Worked like a charm!

Luck o' the Irish Brownie

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2014
These brownies were a huge disappointment. Technically speaking they came out ok - that is I didn't have issues with the consistency of the layers or anything like that - I just thought they tasted more like a light chocolate cake to me and the mint layer was sweet. I was hoping for a dense dark chocolate flavor for the brownie that could help balance the icky sweetness of the mint layer. I have a monster sweet tooth but overall these were just WAY too sweet for me to enjoy. It's all a matter of personal preference I suppose as others seemed to love them but they were not for me or anyone else in the house.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2014
If I could give this pot pie 10 stars I would! I'm not even a huge pot pie fan but the family was in the mood for some comfort food and I could not be happier I chose this to try. The only thing I did differently was to cook the chicken and veggies in Chicken broth rather than water - used my old stand by Betty Crocker pie crust recipe and OMG it was off the charts good. I do not like bland food and don't understand some of the reviews saying they needed to add more seasoning - maybe my Trader Joe's Chicken broth was just that flavorful? Will definitely be a staple in our house for these long Minnesota winters!

Heather's Grilled Salmon

I have a love/hate relationship with salmon. I love the health benefits but often don't care for the strong taste. This recipe gives the salmon an amazing flavor! Will be my go to salmon marinade for sure!!

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2011
Really good flavor! I wanted to use it piped on cupcakes and the consistency was a little soft for that, but I just refrigerated until ready to serve and they were great!

Ranch Style Oyster Crackers

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
These have a nice flavor and my husband loves them. 3/4 cup oil is waaay too much in my opinion. The first time I made them they turned out very greasy. The second time I reduced the oil to just under a half cup and they were much better.

Seven Layer Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
Very good! I leave out the cauliflower but leave everything else the same. If you use a bag and a half of pre chopped lettuce mix, it makes the prep even easier. Last time I made this I was out of parmesan cheese so I just omitted it - big mistake - it is way too sweet without it!

Chicken Enchiladas V

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
Made these for my boyfriend and he couldn't rave about them enough. There are only 2 of us and the recipe made 6 and we ended up reheating them for the next 2 meals in a row. I made some changes that others had suggested - used 1 can cream of chicken and 1 can of fiesta cheese soup, also added a little of the soup mixture to the filling before wrapping.

Ranch Oyster Crackers

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2006
Not sure if I did something wrong but these didn't turn out like ones I've tasted before. The seasoning mix was all clumpy so some had no flavor and some had way too much. Think I'll try another recipe for this next time.
