Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2012
I can't say enough good things about these bars. I have picky breakfast eaters - 19 mos and 3 yrs old - and they DEVOUR these. I have been making them at least once a week since I discovered the recipe. Well done!!

Heather's Grilled Salmon

I have a love/hate relationship with salmon. I love the health benefits but often don't care for the strong taste. This recipe gives the salmon an amazing flavor! Will be my go to salmon marinade for sure!!

Lance's French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2011
Delicious! French onion soup is one of those things that I try everywhere I go in hopes of finding "the best" and this recipe is awesome! The only changes I made were to only use 3 onions, and used half Marsala wine and half Sherry in place of the white wine - I like my soup a little sweeter so this was perfect for me. I also didn't have swiss cheese so I used sliced provolone. It was ok, but I'm still in search of the perfect cheese topping. All in all this is a fantastic recipe and very easy to whip up at home when I have a craving for it.

Fruity Angel Food Trifle

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
A definite winner! The only thing I changed was the fruit combination - I used strawberries, blueberries, fresh pineapple and mandarin oranges. I also used the French Vanilla Cool Whip. It turned out fantastic - will definitely be making this one again.

Fruit Sherbet

I cannot say enough good things about this recipe! I used fresh squeezed juices straight from the juicer, 1% milk and reduced the sugar to 1 cup to try to make it a little more healthy and it was absolutely delicious!! I will be trying new combinations of juices in the future, but this was awesome as is. Thanks so much for sharing!

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2011
Really good flavor! I wanted to use it piped on cupcakes and the consistency was a little soft for that, but I just refrigerated until ready to serve and they were great!

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: May 14, 2011
Love, love, love this recipe! It's the closest thing I've found to the version I love in a local restaurant. I followed the advice of some other reviewers and used a good quality sweet Marsala, doubled the sauce & mushrooms and added a bit of half & half and cornstarch/water mixture to thicken. Next time I think I made the mistake of doubling the olive oil & butter when I doubled the sauce, but I definitely did not need to do so as it was quite oily. Will definitely be adding this to my list of favorites!

Creamy Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
This is the frosting recipe I have been searching for!! It is awesome for piping and tastes SO much better than traditional buttercream frosting. I took all the suggestions of "JustMe" (including subbing almond extract for vanilla) and it turned out perfectly! My advice: if you think it isn't the right consistency, just keep beating on high, mine took about 10 mins before it was a nice whipped consistency - I was a little worried along the way because it was looking quite curdled, but just be patient and hang in there - it will turn out! This will definitely be my go to recipe from now on. Update: I tried adding 1/4 cup pureed strawberries to use on vanilla cupcakes - DELICIOUS!! You need to whip quite a bit longer after adding the strawberries as it will look curdled and gross - but just let it whip away and eventually it will come around.

Crab-Artichoke Pizza

Great combination of ingredients! The only thing I changed was to use imitation crab meat instead of canned and a pre-made thin crust for my base. Will definitely be adding this to my weekly rotation.

I've been making this salad for years and it's always a hit! You can use oreos instead of the fudge stripe cookies and call it "dirt salad" too - kiddos love it!

Butter Brickle Frozen Delight

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2010
This is very good! I only gave it 4 stars because it was suuuuper sweet. I love sweets more than the next person, but this got to be a bit much. My advice - take a small piece and off set the sweetness with a big glass of milk!

Streusel Topped Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
Made the recipe exactly as stated and they were very tasty! I think it would make a great base muffin recipe to add whichever kind of fruit you'd like. I wasn't a huge fan of the streusel topping however, I will keep searching for the "perfect streusel". Update: I tried brown sugar in place of the white sugar in the streusel topping - MUCH better! Would give them 5 stars with this sub.

Crispy Potato Wedges

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
This recipe was awesome! Like some of the others, I used seasoning salt instead of regular, but kept everything else the same. I will continue to play around with the spices a bit. After cutting the wedges, I soaked them in cold water for about 15 min to remove some of the starchiness and keep them crispy. Worked like a charm! Just make sure to pat them dry before adding the oil & spices. I covered my pan with foil and sprayed with nonstick spray and had zero problem with them sticking. Will definitely be a staple recipe for my family from now on.

The consistency of this was nice, but I thought it was lacking in flavor. I even doubled the confectioners sugar and vanilla but it still tasted bland.

Chocolate Haystacks

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
These had very good flavor, but after they had been out of the fridge for a little while they started to get very sticky and messy to eat. I was assuming the coating would stay hardened like almond bark. I will try making again but using almond bark instead of the chocolate chips.

Ranch Style Oyster Crackers

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
These have a nice flavor and my husband loves them. 3/4 cup oil is waaay too much in my opinion. The first time I made them they turned out very greasy. The second time I reduced the oil to just under a half cup and they were much better.

Seven Layer Salad

Very good! I leave out the cauliflower but leave everything else the same. If you use a bag and a half of pre chopped lettuce mix, it makes the prep even easier. Last time I made this I was out of parmesan cheese so I just omitted it - big mistake - it is way too sweet without it!
