About this Cook
I came from a fairly large family, learned to cook early and cooked everything from scratch. We had to make food stretch, so I learned a lot cooking that way. Over the years I've learned a lot more and absolutely love to cook and have people over to eat with us.
My favorite things to cook
I love making soups, breads, and pies so my favorite things to cook are simple down home country recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving dinner at my home.
My cooking triumphs
I've won several cooking contests including chili and salsa. I'm very proud of that.
My cooking tragedies
Experimenting with bread recipes has resulted in some rather rawhide tasting bread, but once I juggled all the ingredients to my taste, the end result was a perfect bread. Wasted a lot of ingredients before I found perfection but I fed it to the birds so it didn't go to waste. Once I made some horrible biscuits. They were hard as a rock. My grandfather painted them and hung them on the wall in his kitchen.

Freezer Caramel Drizzle Pie
Everyone loved this pie. We had a group test kitchen day at my home and everyone brought pie recipes to try. We made pies all day and ended up with 12 pies. This pie was the most unique tasting pie and was the most requested recipe. I didn't taste anything like I expected. Everyone said it tasted like.... You have to try it for yourself. I'm not going to tell you what they compared it to, but it was very delicious.

Oatmeal Pie IV
This pie is excellent. I did not use a normal pie crust. I took a dozen homemade oatmeal cookies and put them into the food processor and turned them into crumbs. I added a stick of room temperature real butter and a pinch of salt and used this for my crust, pressing it into my pie dish then added the filling and baking all at once. It was soooo delicious!

Grandma's Egg Custard Pie
This recipe was excellent. I used 4 eggs, though because my eggs were very small. This is a championship pie for sure. I'm adding it to my personal collection. Thanks.
