About this Cook
By day (er...evening, mostly...) I teach piano. By all other hours, I'm a foodie who enjoys researching different recipes. I think I have about 5 mac 'n' cheese recipes now. :P
My favorite things to cook
Pasta, soups, sauces, and some meat dishes. Basically, if I can use garden-fresh herbs and veggies or stuff I pick up at the farmer's market, I'm happy!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love my aunt's extremely simple, homey recipes, like her mac 'n' cheese and delicious steamers. Also, every summer my whole family gets together for a vacations, and every night each family unit has a chance to cook for everyone! We always get great recipes that way^_^
My cooking triumphs
Pasta cacio e pepe - as good as when I had it in Rome! Butternut squash soup and creamy carrot-sweet potato soup - I took basic recipes from this site and modified it to my own, absolutely addictive bowls of deliciousness!
My cooking tragedies
I suck at using and making curry dishes, and perfectly cooked rice still eludes me. Sigh.

Pumpkin Muffins with Streusel Topping
Delicious! Made 24 full muffins for me - again, as others have said, that may just be the size of my muffin tins. Also doubled the streusel as other reviewers suggested. They're absolutely delicious!

Yogurt, Sun-Dried Tomato, Walnut, and Basil Dip
Excellent! The only change I made was to add some fresh grated pecorino romano (hence 4 stars instead of 5), and it was excellent! Perfect accompaniment for my veggie platter, and I'll bet it's good with crusty bread too^_^

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints
The ONLY change I made was to add about a 1/4 tsp of salt because that's just how I like my cookies, but I LOVE the raspberry jam and almond extract! Oh, I also left off the glaze - not a fan of glazes. Great base recipe with a lovely interpretation!
