If you can't tell by my profile name I am a military spouse. As a military spouse we often are asked to bring something to potlucks, bake something for a bake sale or make a dinner for a family in need. Sometimes, well more than sometimes we are told by our spouses at the last minute "hey we are going to a bbq and need to bring something." My husband has done that too me more times than I care to think about. In fact my husband did that to me back in September 2001.

I remember all to well, the thoughts of what the heck am I going to bring. Well that and other thoughts like, why the heck didn't you tell me before the night before. My frustration led me to the computer and searching for recipes and later onto Allrecipes. I remember I didn't have time to go to the store and searched for recipes by looking at the ingredients they had. I ended up making a spinach dip that was a big hit. From that point on Allrecipes became my go to site for recipes. It has been over ten years since I became a member and I still use Allrecipes to search for new recipes that will become the next big hit!

With Allrecipes the misses have been few and far between but the hits have been plentiful. I now have a huge selection of family and friend favorite recipes. With Allrecipes I have been able to grow as a cook and broaden my cooking range. Today my cooking style is different than what it was 10 years ago, it has changed for the better! I am now the person that people come up to and say, "umm... Debbie... can you make us a cake, do you think you make us 2 cakes, pretty please". When something yummylicious is brought to a function people come up to me and ask for the recipe. I just tell them to go to Allrecipes. I honestly could not tell you how many people I have recommended Allrecipes to.

Allrecipes is simply the best website to go to, to look for recipes. I personally LOVE  the ingredient search. I use it all the time. I love looking through the photos at the different recipes too. That is how some of our family favorite recipes have been found. Then there is the Buzz where you can interact with others. Cooking videos, helpful articles and even menu plans. So many things to help you make your very best meal

If you are needing something yum to make, Allrecipes is the place for you! Thank you Allrecipes for all the wonderful features you have and helping me become a better cook!

Debbie-it is indeed a great place to be here on AR. I wish I had found it sooner than I did. I would also like to say thanks to your husband for serving our country. My FIL was in the army, my husband was in the Navy, and my brother served in the Army as an Airborne Ranger. We would not have the American way of life if it weren't for men like your husband. As a military wife you also go through more than most people know.

Hello, I too am a military wife although he is now retired(has been for thirty some odd years)but we are older now and our health is not great. He has COPD and I suffer from lower back pain constantly. We don't eat as much as we used to and that is a good thing as we both need to lose more weight. He was in the Air Force for twenty years retired then became a electrician.Anyway I like AR very much and check everyday for their recipes.AHHH life is good but being a retired military wife is even better.Bless of all you, CLinOregon

ArmyWifeyDebbie! Love your name! My Dad was career military - he enlisted 1946, bootstrapped became an officer – the Army Air Corp was beginning to become the US Air Force. I was born when the Cold War was hot - for us Cold War turmoil meant lots of transfers. K-12 I did twenty school changes. 80% were Catholic schools. I grew an intense prayer life. My dad was in and outa Vietnam about a decade. S. Korea is glad they are not S. Vietnam. His last Vietnam tour I started high school – he returned summer before my junior year. I only did two high schools. Now is a great time for American military families –why America's prosperity is protected? Duh – our military. Patriotism became focused on 9/11 - making a cultural shift. There was some unkindness to military when I was growing up. Sometimes we were treated as pariahs. Anti war dissidents I always reminded our military with their blood guaranteed rights to be unpatriotic. When a soviet missile in Cuba was pointed at the base we were stationed . . . my dad was a radar navigator in B52s . . . since any minute we might all become nuclear dust and my dad made a living with B52 payload (dropping bombs!) – I figured this ‘war’ thing I needed to learn about – I began studying war . . . we stayed at Bliss in El Paso a few times in between assignments – one night in Juarez in 1959 was a POWERFUL life impacting experience I wrote into a short story about recently - it is joyful reading your notes!! I only recently found this AR cooking site – and now I am addicted! Oh yeah – my Dad retired in 1976 . . . thirty years.

About Me
Hello All:) I am a Army wife, mom to 4, volunteer and jack of all trades. Well maybe not all but I try. I love to cook and bake and take pictures of what I make. It all helps me de-stress. I am a foodie and love food and trying out new things.
My favorite things to cook
Do I have to pick one thing as my favorite? It really depends on my mood some days it is cooking up a scrumptious dinner while the next it is baking cupcakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
From big breakfasts on the weekends to holiday meals food is a big part of so many things in my families life. It brings us together. We work together creating meals just as we sit together when we eat.
My cooking triumphs
Nothing feels better than cooking a new recipe that turns out perfect and that my entire family loves. The harder the recipe the better it feels. I can also make some awesome cupcakes and other baked goods. I was the cupcake lady at my kid's school and make cupcakes that the kids actually eat.
My cooking tragedies
Just keep me away from box mac n cheese or ramen noodles. It isn't a pretty sight.
